My warmest greetings to all
my relatives in the Familia
Macavinta as we celebrate
this joyous occasion—the 2nd
Familia Macavinta Grand
Reunion.
In 2010, when we first
envisioned this reunion, our purpose was to bring
together all the Macavintas. We knew then that there
were many Macavintas but we did not know how big
the Macavinta Clan was. We were surprised to learn
that our family was THAT big when the family tree was
constructed and when the first Familia Macavinta
Grand Reunion was held on January 15, 2010.
Today, we are holding our second reunion. We are
gathered in this celebration with our parents,
grandparents, uncles, aunties, siblings, cousins, nieces,
nephews, in-laws and all other relatives to recall our
fond memories and renew the ties that bind us together.
We are fortunate that we have this opportunity to
introduce our children to their unique history and
heritage. We are blessed that we have this special time
of reuniting, remembering, and rejoicing.
From our logo, the VINTA signifies reaching everyone
out fast. The HORIZONTAL and VERTICAL LINES mean all
of us come from different directions just to be with each
other—from east or west, from north or south. The LONG
and WINDING ROAD means our path to greatness or
success in any field of work is not easy, and requires
determination, hard work and hope. The RED color
manifests life and vitality while the YELLOW color
expresses joy and happiness. To top them all, we make
ourselves the best that we can be as our way of
glorifying our Lord.
It is our hope that with this 2nd
Familia Macavinta Grand
Reunion, the family ties will be revitalized and the bonds
will become stronger among all the members.
I, therefore, welcome you all to the 2nd
Familia
Macavinta Grand Reunion. May we have a successful
and productive celebration.
Dr. JESSE MACAVINTA GOMEZ

6. We want to treat one another as a family. Regardless of our distinctiveness,
uniqueness, differences, imperfections and frailties, we still cannot deny that we
are a family. Otherwise, we are an embarrassment to our identity in the community;
we are a shame to the legacy which our forefathers had initiated. Thus, we lose
the name we have. The main aim of our family reunion today will remain futile if
we do not take seriously the value of each individual in the family. In other words,
it defeats the purpose of having this event if we do not treat one another as part
of one big family.
I love Family reunions, simply because it is one big way to restore, refresh and
remember our humble beginning in the family. And as we remember our own
family, we express our gratitude to the countless blessings bestowed by God in
our own family.
Family is so important. At our family reunions, we even have a few folks attend
who are not related. They are just friends. But they are welcome. It is the same in
our church family reunions. A family is people, God’s people. Related by blood…
HIS BLOOD.
“The future of the Church and the future of humanity depend in great part on
parents and on the family life that they build in their homes. The family is the true
measure of the greatness of a nation, just as the dignity of man is the true measure
of civilization.” (Homily of Pope John Paul II in Limerick, Monday, October 1st,
1979)
All is done when we consider the utmost importance of prayer in our family.
Prayer, according to Mother Theresa, is the tranquility of the heart. And according
to Fr. Peyton in his advocacy for the Holy Rosary Crusade, “a family who prays
together stays together.”
Our Beloved Patron, St. Joseph The Worker, as foster father of our Lord Jesus
Christ, never failed to protect the family entrusted to him by our Father in heaven.
We believe that when we closely associate ourselves to God, we will be shielded
and protected by St. Joseph through his fatherly guidance and intercessions. Thus,
the Macavinta Clan, as one big family of God our Father, may be blessed and
strengthened as you grow together in the loving embrace of one another.
My warmest congratulations and may you continue to shine as you inspire others
to love and value one another.
