In this clip of Family Guy, Lois has sneaked into Justin Biebers dressing room.
• There is an intertextual referece to Justin Bieber.

• There is also intertextual references to other movies that include older women
having relations with younger men/boys, e.g. References to American Pie,
‘Stiflers mum’ who was a mother of a boy in the group. One of the boys found
her attractive and had a ‘secret’ relationship with her.
• Also intertextual reference to the film ‘The Graduate’ by referencing Lois
calling herself Mrs Robinson, who too tried to seduce a younger man.
• Justin Bieber also says are you trying to ‘reference something’ because he doesn’t
understand the references due to him only being young in comparison to Lois.
• This can also be self referential as it shows they are aware that they are a constructed.

• Imitating Justin Bieber i.e. combing his hair which is an iconic symbol that represents
Bieber. This could be classed as ‘pastiche’ but could also be seen as nostalgic because of
them mocking him doing his hair in the mirror, implying he is self obessessed.
• Family guy are assuming that the audience is media literate as will understand who the
young boy is and will get the references to the films.
