A Technology Petting Zoo is an opportunity for library patrons to
try out gadgets.
Our zoo will have several commonly used gadgets.
• iPad
• Kindle
• More!
Patrons can learn about our library’s
digital ecosystem from petting zoo events.
3. DIGITAL ECOSYSTEM

A digital ecosystem describes technologies (gadgets or computers)
and software (applications or apps) that work together to deliver
content to an end user (library patron).
• The El Paso Public Library has many digital offerings that work in
conjunction with other technologies, apps and even with social
media.
• Not all ecosystems are compatible!
• For example, apps for Apple won’t work on an Android.
• Kindle books are best viewed on a Kindle or Kindle app.
You will learn what items work together as we continue training.

Our collection isn’t only paper—it’s also digital.
Understanding the digital is just as essential as knowing how to
find a book or answer a reference question.
Helping patrons with primary level tech problems is GOOD
customer service for the library.
