The Global Fund is an innovative financing institution that provides funding to countries to support programs that prevent, treat and care for people with HIV and AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria. Since its establishment in 2002, The Global Fund has supported more than 1,000 programs in 151 countries, providing AIDS treatment for 4.2 million people, anti-tuberculosis treatment for 9.7 million people and 310 million insecticide-treated nets for the prevention of malaria Before working with Ektron, The Global Fund did not have a CMS and was looking for a flexible platform that was simple to use. As a global non-profit organisation, the website needed to be accessible to people all over the world, and available in four languages – English, Spanish, French, and Russian. The Global Fund has now been working with the Ektron platform for over two years, starting with version 8.01 and currently using the 8.6 SP1 platform, hoping to upgrade to 8.7 later this year. “Moving from a non-CMS site to a CMS site gives huge benefits,” says Genc Kastrati, Web Development Specialist at The Global Fund. “Using Ektron has allowed us to adapt the site to our needs much more easily. This helps greatly and makes our job much easier. The site is more accessible now. The feedback we’ve had from visitors is that the site is faster and easier to use.”
