The English panel of SK Kuala Matu held their first meeting of 2015. They discussed the previous year's UPSR exam results and set new targets for English achievement across various year levels. The panel also agreed on standard formats for lesson planning and reviewed the school's performance in the LINUS English literacy screening program. Various activities and intervention programs were proposed to improve English language instruction and literacy.

1.0 Chairperson’s speech
1.1 The chairperson thanked and welcomed all teachers to the first
meeting of English Panel 2015, particularly Mr.Zulfikri Bin Romazi who
is a new teacher at SK Kuala Matu.
1.2 He hopes that all the teachers will give their cooperation and all the
programmes suggested will carried out successfully.
2.0 Appointment of new English Panel Committee members
2.1 The English Language Panel Committee members for the year are as
follows:

3.0 Approval of the previous minutes
3.1 The chairperson suggested the previous minutes of meeting to be
approved.

2. 4.0 Yearly scheme of work and Daily lesson plan
4.1 The panel agreed to standardize the format of yearly scheme of work
and daily lesson plan for KBSR and KSSR classes.

5.0 UPSR analysis
5.1 Mr. Raymond Leo Junior summarized the overall performance of year
6 students in English Language of UPSR Examination 2014.

5.2 He also announces that target for UPSR 2015 is 71% with 4 pupils are
expected to get grade A, 5 pupils are expected to get grade B and 11
pupils are expected to get grade C.
6.0 Target for the year 2015
6.1 The English Panel has decided on a new target for English
achievement for 2015. The targets are as stated below :

7.0 LINUS 2.0 (English literacy)
7.1 Based on the achievement of LINUS2.0’s English literacy since it
started, 26% of pupils in year 2 and 54% of pupils in year 3 were
mastered English literacy. As the achievement is in poor level, the
committee members are reminded to put more effort and work harder
to improve the achievement for the coming LINUS screening at least
15% increment.
7.2 Mr. Raymond Leo Junior has presented the intervention programme for
English literacy pupils. (see appendix 3)
732 He also reminded all teachers to always refer to the screening manual
all the time to make sure that they are on the right track while
implement the screening.
8.0 MBMMBI
8.1 The MBMMBI programmes will continue to be carried out in the year
2015. Therefore, teachers are advised to use various methods and
approach to teach different level of students. The MBMMBI CDs
available in the school library.
3. 9.0 English Language suggested activities for the year 2015
9.1 Mr. Raymond Leo Junior has presented the suggested activities for the
year 2015. (see appendix 4)
10.0 Other matters
10.1 Teachers are encouraged to make full use of the textbook and activity
book.
10.2 Level 2 pupils (Year 4 – Year 6) should have their own dictionary.
10.3 Mr. Raymond Leo Junior reminded teachers to include the NILAM
programme as part of their lesson by setting suitable task when
bringing them to the library.
10.4 All teachers are reminded to increase the effectiveness of teaching and
learning in English literacy classes.
10.5 As to enhance the quality of English knowledge teaching and
deliverance, Mr. Raymond Leo Junior promoted peer-guidance
among the members of the panel by encouraging them to
approach each other for help if they face any teaching constraint.
10.6 Being no other matter arising, the meeting was adjourned at 1630.
