1. Efe, UNED create Master's in International Journalism
program
Spain's international news agency Efe and the National University of Correspondence Courses, or
UNED, signed Friday an agreement to launch an online Master's Degree program in International
Journalism.
The program is designed for people who seek training in journalism with a view to working with
outlets particularly dedicated to international news.
Signing the agreement were Agencia Efe President Jose Antonio Vera and UNED rector Juan Antonio
Gimeno, at a ceremony attended by university deans Julio Bordas and Paloma Collado and the head
of the Efe Training School, Gloria Valenzuela.
UNED professors and Efe professionals will
teach the online classes, which also offer the
innovative possibility of internships at Efe
bureaus in Spain and around the world.
With this program, UNED, with 250,000
students worldwide, and Efe, the world's
largest Spanish-language news agency, join
forces to contribute to the training of
professionals specializing in high quality
international news reporting and
commentary.
The initiative marks an online extension of
Agencia Efe's mission to provide professional
education, which up to now has been carried
out through its Master of News Agency
Journalism program, as well as through
scholarships and specialized training courses.
Its work in this field was further strengthened recently with the founding of the Efe Training School,
which takes charge of all the educational programs carried out in the agency up to now, as well as
programs outside of Spain for the training of news journalists in Latin American and Arabic
countries. EFE
