We’ve talked about the pressures from students and meeting their interests and translating the information to their digital language. Now, another place you’ll feel pressure from is administration and policy makers. You need to meet these standards. Our school’s success depends on it. Some teachers have fallen to this pressure and simply teach to the test and teaching them how to take tests. This isn’t measuring our effectiveness as teachers and this isn’t the intent or purpose of NCLB. We need to increase our effectiveness and how can we do that? By translating our language to meet those of our students. Technology can help us address these problems – and help our students meet these standards by adjusting our methods to meet individual students’ needs.
Individualized Learning Students learn at their own pace so that they do not have to move onto the next topic without mastering the current topic. Forcing them move onto the next topic will only worsen their academic performance. Customized Learning Students have a variety of choices that can suit their needs and interests.
