2. Proverbs 14:3 In
the mouth of the foolish is a rod of
pride: but the lips of the wise shall preserve them.
(NIV) A fool's talk brings a rod to his back, but
the lips of the wise protect them.
The talk of a fool (ʾĕwl one who is
,
arrogant, hardened and thickheaded in his ways)
results in his being punished with a rod on his
back. Wise words, however, protect a person from
such punishment.

3. Our words reveal our character.
Words of anger, malice, profanity, belittling of
others, bragging words, or words of blessing.
We speak from our heart.

4. 4 Where
no oxen are, the
crib is clean: but much
increase is by the strength
of the ox.
If you have no
livestock, you shovel
no manure,
But you have to pull
your own wagon.

5. Lazy people work harder trying to get out of work
than a good man would to get the job done.
By the time she drops a
package a few times,
She could have made
two or three trips more
easily.
Lazy man’s load

6. 5 A faithful
witness will not lie: but a false witness
will utter lies.
What we are (our character) determines what we
do; it’s not the other way around.
One tells lies because he is a liar; it
is his nature.
But God wants to change our nature.
He wants to produce in us His Own Character.

7. 6 A scorner
seeketh wisdom, and findeth it not: but
knowledge is easy unto him that understandeth.
He’s looking in all the wrong places, and will
not recognize wisdom when he sees it.
This is the wrong crowd
in which to seek wisdom.

8. 7 Go
from the presence of a foolish man, when thou
perceivest not in him the lips of knowledge.
Anyone who speaks contrary to Scripture is
foolish; he does not have lips of knowledge.
Go from his presence.

9. 8 The
wisdom of the prudent is to understand his
way: but the folly of fools is deceit.
We should think about whatever we are about to do;
Think about where a decision might lead us.
Potential trouble
Most of our wounds are truly
self-inflicted.

10. 9 Fools
make a mock at sin: but among the
righteous there is favor.
Only a very foolish person thinks that sin is
something to be laughed at.
Foolish and profane men consider sin a mere
trifle, to be made light of rather than mourned over.
Fools mock at the sin-offering; but those that make
light of sin, make light of Christ.
