General Motors or GM is an automobile holding brand, manufacturing and distributing vehicles under
different companies in every part of the world. They are an American automobile holding corporation
based in Michigan, Detroit. Through their long list of subsidiaries, their automobiles have reached a
global audience. GM manufactures automobiles in 37 countries, which are sold under a total of 11 brand
names. Their subsidiaries include Buick, Chevrolet, Cadillac, Baojun, GMC, Holden, Isuzu, Opel, Vauxhall,
Wuling and Jie Fang.
Holden, short for GM Holden Ltd, is the official automaker for the automobile giant in Australia.
Established in 1856, the company is headquartered in Port Melbourne, Victoria. Initially, the company
started as a saddle manufacturer, however, since 1906, they have shifted to automotive industry and
came under General Motors by 1931.
In 1987, the Australian automobile maker set up their performance vehicle partner, which was called
Holden Special Vehicle. Based in Clayton, Victoria, the company is responsible for modifying Holden
models marketing in Australia. The performance-enhanced models are sold under the brand, HSV.
Among various modified Holden Commodore cars, the most significant one is the VZ Commodore.
Holden Commodore VZ is the thirteenth model in their Commodore range, which was unveiled during
August 2004. The modified model was introduced back in October 2004 and saw various performance
enhancing upgrades. The VZ series was powered with the new GM LS2 V8 engine that has the capacity
to churn a maximum power of 400 hp. The Z series in Holden’s Commodore was upgraded with other
several modifications from engine performance enhancement to exterior features.
