Admission Information for Korean Language Learning
Courses
1. Outline
This course is designed for overseas Koreans and foreigners to learn
about Korean Language and Korean Culture. Foreigners or overseas
Koreans of highschool level education or those of the same academic
background can apply.

3. Curriculum
a. Distinct Features
1) Experienced Korean instructors will teach each language skill
(Vocabulary/Grammar, Listening, Speaking, Reading, Writing), based on
learner's educational level.
2) Every Friday, leaners will take a weekly test in order to improve their
academic achievement rate, and also, take mid-term and final exams.
3) In order to enhance the level of understanding the Korean culture, field study
programs will be provided.
b. Curriculum

Ⅰ
• Students can express simple thoughts and ideas, and answer simple
questions
• Students can know Korean customs and manners related with greetings,
food, and everyday life.
Beginner
Ⅱ
• Students can carry out linguistic skills required for daily life, such as
making a phone call, asking a favor and using public services.
• Students can know about characteristics of food, clothing, housing, and
recreational activity of the Korean people.
Intermedi
ate Ⅰ
• Students can understand simple public signs as well as public texts or
explanations, encountered in daily life.
• Students can understand frequently-used proverbs and popular words,
and use them properly.
Intermedi
ate Ⅱ
• Students can speak everyday Korean fluently and carry out public tasks
by themselves.
• Students can understand the history as well as the current economy,
politics, and culture of Korea generally.
Advanced
Ⅰ
• Students can speak and write their own ideas or thoughts logically.
• Students can understand slang, abbreviations, and jargon, whether they
are spoken orally or used frequently in mass media.
Advanced
Ⅱ
• Students can perform language skills which are necessary for technical
research or professional tasks.
• Students can have a deeper and wider understanding of the history as
well as the current economy, politics, and culture of Korea, and further,
can use proper Korean expressions required for sympathizing with
Koreans.

4. Educational Facilities
a. Lecture Hall
1) Lecture halls equipped with a variety of audio-visual materials and multimedia devices
2) Virtual space for real life experience (cafeteria, hospital, library, airport, immigration
office, supermarket, etc.)
3) Language labs for improving listening skills
4) Labs where students can listen to Korean, English, and Chinese satellite radio and TV
programs
5) Computer labs with internet service and study materials
b. Dormitory
1) A brand-new condominium room for 2 (mandatorily shared) (App. 1,350,000 won per
6 months)
2) High-quality meal plan (including Sat, and Sun. as well as holidays)
3) A resting area and fitness center for recreational purposes (fitness equipment, billiards,
table tennis)
※ Personal belongings such as blankets, pillows, room slippers, or toiletries must be
prepared by students themselves.

a. Procedures for registration and admission
1) Application and visa documents

3) Acceptance and Admission Letter Issued for Qualified Students
4) Submission of Immigration Documents to Immigration Office
5) Arrangement for Payment Method of Tuition and Fee just after getting a visa
number
6) Payment of Tuition and Fee
7) Notification of the issued visa number to each student

9) Admission Ceremony and Orientation
7. Required Documents
a. Chinese Passport Holders (Applicants from China)
1) Application form (with passport pictures): Form 1
2) A Letter of Self-introduction (one A-4 page long written by hand) : Form 2
3) A final graduation certificate (issued in the past 3 years, notarized, and then certified
by the Koran consulate)
4) A certificate of final academic record (issued in the past 3 years, notarized, and then
certified by the Koran consulate)
5) A Notarized Certificate of Family Relations
- For students whose parents are divorced or dead, hand in a divorce letter or a death
letter.
- For students whose parents are listed in a different family registry, hand in a
marriage certificate.
6) Documents of Financial Guarantee: a certificate of over $3,000 exchange or remittance
to Korea, or a certificate of depositing over $10,000 to one of the 5 major banks in
China (Bank of China, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, China Bank
Construction Corporation, Agricultural Bank of China, Communication Bank of China)

7) A copy of Identification Card (an applicant's ID and parents' ID)
8) A coloured copy of an applicant's passport (or A scanned file of a student's passport)
9) A copy of an applicant's family registry
10) A proof of either parent's employment and income (for the previous year)
11) A proof of an applicant's employment (when in office)
12) An applicant's proof of enrollment (when in college)
13) 4 copies of an applicant's passport photo (3.5mm × 4.5mm, identification photos
taken in the past 6 months)
14) Application Fee: 50,000 won (Non-refundable)
※ For clauses 3 and 4, all the documents translated in Korean or English should be
notarized, and then they should be certified by the Korean consulate.
※ For clause 5, all the documents should be translated in Korean or English, and then
they should be notarized.
※ For clauses 1, 2, 9, 10, 11, 12, and 13, all the documents should be translated in
Korean.
b. Applicants from other countries (except China)
1) Application form (with passport pictures): Form 1

8. Standards for the Evaluation of Documents
a. An Applicant with a strong motivation to learn Korean (entering
a college or graduate school, seeking a job, etc.)
b. An Applicant who needs to learn Korean
c. An Applicant who is eligible to get an entry permit and a visa

10. Information about Cancellation of Admission, Refund, Other
Regulations
a. Admission is revoked for the applicant who fails to get an issued visa
number according to the regulations of Immigration Office, Ministry of
Justice, Republic of Korea.
b. Admission is cancelled when the successful applicant does not pay the
tuition by the due date.
c. Admission is cancelled if the details on the submitted documents are not
true.
d. After admission, applicants should follow all the regulations and
guidelines for teaching Korean (in regular courses), which this institute
sets.
e. Submitted documents will not be returned, and application fee will not
be refunded, either.

Distinct Features 1) Experienced Korean instructors will teach each language skill (Vocabulary/Grammar, Listening, Speaking, Reading, Writing), based on learner's educational level. 2) Every Friday, leaners will take a weekly test in order to improve their academic achievement rate, and also, take mid-term and final exams. 3) In order to enhance the level of understanding the Korean culture, field study programs will be provided. b. Curriculum Level Objectives Beginner Ⅰ • Students can express simple thoughts and ideas, and answer simple questions • Students can know Korean customs and manners related with greetings, food, and everyday life. Beginner Ⅱ • Students can carry out linguistic skills required for daily life, such as making a phone call, asking a favor and using public services. • Students can know about characteristics of food, clothing, housing, and recreational activity of the Korean people. Intermedi ate Ⅰ • Students can understand simple public signs as well as public texts or explanations, encountered in daily life. • Students can understand frequently-used proverbs and popular words, and use them properly. Intermedi ate Ⅱ • Students can speak everyday Korean fluently and carry out public tasks by themselves. • Students can understand the history as well as the current economy, politics, and culture of Korea generally. Advanced Ⅰ • Students can speak and write their own ideas or thoughts logically. • Students can understand slang, abbreviations, and jargon, whether they are spoken orally or used frequently in mass media. Advanced Ⅱ • Students can perform language skills which are necessary for technical research or professional tasks. • Students can have a deeper and wider understanding of the history as well as the current economy, politics, and culture of Korea, and further, can use proper Korean expressions required for sympathizing with Koreans.

Lecture Hall 1) Lecture halls equipped with a variety of audio-visual materials and multimedia devices 2) Virtual space for real life experience (cafeteria, hospital, library, airport, immigration office, supermarket, etc.) 3) Language labs for improving listening skills 4) Labs where students can listen to Korean, English, and Chinese satellite radio and TV programs 5) Computer labs with internet service and study materials b. Dormitory 1) A brand-new condominium room for 2 (mandatorily shared) (App. 1,350,000 won per 6 months) 2) High-quality meal plan (including Sat, and Sun. as well as holidays) 3) A resting area and fitness center for recreational purposes (fitness equipment, billiards, table tennis) ※ Personal belongings such as blankets, pillows, room slippers, or toiletries must be prepared by students themselves. 5. Required Documents a. Chinese Passport Holders (Applicants from China) 1) Application form (with passport pictures): Form 1 2) A Letter of Self-introduction (one A-4 page long written by hand) : Form 2 3) A final graduation certificate (issued in the past 3 years, notarized, and then certified by the Koran consulate) 4) A certificate of final academic record (issued in the past 3 years, notarized, and then certified by the Koran consulate) 5) A Notarized Certificate of Family Relations - For students whose parents are divorced or dead, hand in a divorce letter or a death letter. - For students whose parents are listed in a different family registry, hand in a marriage certificate. 6) Documents of Financial Guarantee: a certificate of over $3,000 exchange or remittance to Korea, or a certificate of depositing over $10,000 to one of the 5 major banks in China (Bank of China, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, China Bank Construction Corporation, Agricultural Bank of China, Communication Bank of China)

Standards for the Evaluation of Documents a. An Applicant with a strong motivation to learn Korean (entering a college or graduate school, seeking a job, etc.) b. An Applicant who needs to learn Korean c. An Applicant who is eligible to get an entry permit and a visa 9. Information for Tuition and Fee Payment a. Admission is revoked for the applicant who fails to get an issued visa number according to the regulations of Immigration Office, Ministry of Justice, Republic of Korea. b. Admission is cancelled when the successful applicant does not pay the tuition by the due date. c. Admission is cancelled if the details on the submitted documents are not true. d. After admission, applicants should follow all the regulations and guidelines for teaching Korean (in regular courses), which this institute sets. e.
