God allows bad things to happen to good people for several reasons:
1) He gives humans free will to choose good or evil and holds them accountable for their actions, not preventing all bad acts.
2) The reasons for natural disasters or personal tragedies are not always known or understandable, as in the story of Job.
3) In some cases, like Jesus, bad things happened to fulfill God's purposes, such as bringing salvation.
4) While on earth, believers may face trials, but God promises eternal life without suffering for those who accept Christ.
2. Bad things happen to good people We can break this down further into two sub-questions: Why does God allow… people to do bad things to other “good” people? unfortunate events to happen to “good” people?

6. Bad things happen to good people God holds us accountable for the bad we do and judges us after death, not (*typically) the instant we decide to do a bad act. (Romans 14:12; Matthew 12:36; 1 Peter 4:5) *Ananias & Sapphira(Acts 5) dying instantlyafter lying to Peter and the Holy Spirit is an untypical case… so it is possible

12. Bad things happen to good people Bad things happened to Jesus (threats, torture, death, etc.) Why? To bring salvation to the world
13. Bad things happen to good people God never told us that bad things won’t happen to His people Jesus even tells us that those who serve Him will be persecuted (John 15:20)

Job was very wealthy and happy. The Bible says he was the greatest of all men of the East. Satan looked around the earth & God asked if he considered Job. Satan said of course he is righteous but take away his stuff and he will curse you to your face. God told Satan he could do everything to him but take his life. So on Job’s oldest son’s birthday a messenger told him a group of people stole all his animals and killed his servants. Another said lightning burned his sheep and servants and the messenger was the only one to escape. Then another messenger said a whirlwind came destroying his brother’s house and everyone in it, including all his children. But Job still worshipped the Lord saying “Naked I came into the World, naked I’ll go. Blessed be the name of the Lord.” Then Satan came again saying “touch his body and he’ll curse you.” So Job got sick with painful sores from the top of his head to the bottom of his feet. His wife even told him to curse God and die but he still remained faithful. In the end the Lord restored his fortunes doubling all he had before.
