Many organizations realize the importance of effective leadership to enable an organization to achieve its vision, mission and strategic objectives and to make the organization successful. These organizations place high priority on the training and development of their leaders at various levels and embark on leadership development programs. Unfortunately, many organizations go for the so-called "quick wins" by conducting a 2-5 days leadership development program, believing this will solve their leadership issues and booster business performance. These organizations have got to be realistic as it is just impossible to develop and turn people into instant effective leaders in 2-5 days. evidence shows that linear models can lead to better organizational outcomes: graduate-school admissions decisions and hiring decisions. Improving Admissions Decisions The value of using linear models in hiring, admissions, and selection decisions is highlighted by work Moore and his colleagues undertook on the interpretation of grades (Moore, Swift, Sharek, & Gino, 2007). They found substantial differences in the grading practices of colleges, even between institutions of similar quality and selectivity. The results show that students from colleges with more lenient grading are more likely to get into graduate school, even after controlling for the quality of the institution and the quality of its students. Due to a variant of the representativeness heuristic called the correspondence bias (Gilbert & Malone, 1995), graduate schools misinterpret the high GPAs of alumni from lenient-grading institutions as indicating high performance. The correspondence bias describes the tendency to take others at face value, assuming that their behavior (or their GPAs) corresponds to their innate traits. This bias persists even when those making the admissions decisions have full information about different institutions' grading practices. It seems that people have trouble sufficiently discounting high grades that are due to lenient grading. By contrast, it would be easy to set up a linear program to avoid this error. Indeed, Dawes (1971) did just that in his work on graduate-school admissions decisions. Dawes used a common method for developing his linear model: he first modeled the admissions decisions of a four-person committee. In other words, he systematically analyzed how the committee made its admissions decisions relying on three factors: (1) Graduate Record Examination scores, (2) undergraduate grade point average, and (3) the quality of the undergraduate school. Dawes then used the variable weightings he obtained from modeling the experts in a linear model to predict the average rating of 384 other applicants. He found that the model could be used to rule out 55 percent of the applicant pool without ever rejecting an applicant that the selection committee had in fact accepted. In addition, the linear model was better than the committee itself in predicting future ratings of the accepted and matriculated applicants by faculty! In 1971, Dawes estimated that the use of a linear model as a screening device by the nation's graduate schools (not to mention by the larger domains of undergraduate admissions, corporate recruiting, and so on) could result in an annual savings of about $18 million in professional time. Adjusted for today's dollars and the current number of graduate-school applications, that number would easily exceed $500 million. The project entitled “A Study on Training and Development Program in Airport Authority of India, Chennai” is our study. During the completion of the project, I had the honor of meeting more than 100 employees of the Airport Authority of India and studied the various training and development procedures they went through from that we inferred that knowledge based training and development procedures escalate the performance and overall efficiency of the employees. Training improves changes and moulds employee’s knowledge, skills, behaviors, aptitude and attitude towards the requirement of the job and organization. For decades, researchers have studied many facets of the interview and have produced mixed results as to the predictive validity of the employment interview (McDaniel, Hartman, Whetzel, & Grubb, 2007; Posthuma, Morgeson, & Campion, 2002). Still, interviewing represents the most popular employee selection method among practitioners. If hiring the right person for the job is crucial to the success of any organization, why do employers continue using the employment interview? We offer some explanations and then describe a technique that has offered promising predictive results for a Midwestern consulting firm. Why Use Interviews? The following are offered as reasons that practitioners continue to use employment interviews even though academic research has shown low predictive validity. First, the interview indirectly adds value to the process beyond that of a selection tool in such areas as recruitment, public relations, and feedback. Second, managers believe a face-to- face interview will yield more valid judgments on several observable interpersonal dimensions of behavior (i.e., interpersonal skills, self- assurance, and social poise). Third, managers may continue to use the interview because of company policies, habits, experience, ease, or the feeling of power. Fourth, the employment interview may be a valid pre- dictor of performance that academic researchers have failed to replicate. Recent studies of employment interviews have concluded that structured interviews offer greater predictive validity (Judge, Higgins, & Cable, 2000; McDaniel et al., 2007; Weekley & Ployhart, 2006). The cybersecurity of critical infrastructures is an essential topic within national and international security as 16 critical infrastructure sectors touch various aspects of American society. Because the failure to provide adequate cybersecurity controls within the critical infrastructure sectors renders the country open to an attack that could have a debilitating effect on security, national public health, safety, and economic security, this matter is so vital that there is the Presidential Policy Directive (PPD) 21 Critical Infrastructure Security and Resilience advances a national policy to strengthen and maintain secure, functioning and resilient critical infrastructure. An organization identified as the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has the mission to be the risk advisor for the United States (US). Other organizations, such as the National Security Agency (NSA), have approved a specific Knowledge Unit (KU) to address cybersecurity for critical infrastructures associated with doctoral-level granting programs. To address this challenge, it is necessary to identify threats better and defend against them while mitigating risks to an acceptable level. Only then can a nation build a more secure and resilient infrastructure for the future while defending against present-day bad actors as cyberwarfare, cyber espionage, and cybersecurity attacks are the modern-day threats that need to be addressed in planning, designing, implementation, and maintenance. Therefore, the researchers developed a case study reviewing threats against different sectors defined in the PPD.

Many countries in the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) are using Information Communications Technology (ICT) to enhance agriculture development and production. To do this efficiently the John Ogonowski and Doug Bereuter Farmer-to-Farmer Program managed for West Africa by Winrock International has been tasked with providing volunteer assignments to ministries of agriculture. The University of Missouri - Saint Louis (UMSL) has entered a partnership with Winrock International to offer upper-level undergraduate and graduate students the opportunity to provide technical assistance to international government entities. In this panel; we discuss findings and opportunities for improvement in Guinea and Senegal as they relate to ICT discovered through the onsite support provided.

This article critically analyzes a project executed for the The John Ogonowski and Doug Bereuter Farmer-to-Farmer Program which provides technical assistance with volunteers from the United States to farmers, agricultural institutions, and government organizations involved in agriculture such as the Ministry of Agriculture. In Guinea, the focus is on computer literacy as more sectors of agriculture rely on computing technology. These skills needs range from basic computing tasks such as creating databases to more advanced items such as programming Global Positional Systems. This study looks at findings, based on the analysis of the System Usability Scale results from a sample of 16 participants. The findings demonstrated that the training proved to be effective for the participants and continued training is necessary. As a result of training 62.5% of the participants ranked above average, as opposed to 43.6% prior to training.

Two to three parallel sessions are planned. A computer lab will be available if needed. Submitted papers and proposals will undergo a double blind review process by at least two reviewers. To facilitate the blind review, include the title of the paper, names, affiliations, mailing addresses, e-mail addresses, and phone numbers of all authors on a cover page submitted as a separate document from the body of the manuscript. If one or more of the co-authors are students, please clearly indicate so. Include only the title of the paper at the beginning of the manuscript.
