"GENOME: The Secret of How Life Works"
is a traveling museum exhibit that provides
an interactive and accessible look at the
human genome.
The 5,000 square foot exhibit explores the
human genome – a person's entire set of
genes – and explains the secret codes that
make us who we are and that influence who
we might become. "GENOME" uses
interactive displays, visually-rich
environments and family-friendly activities to
reveal the mysteries of our genes, delineate
the last two centuries of discovery and
unravel the implications of gene therapy for
the future of medical science and healthcare.
10. The Double Helix
The structure of the DNA
molecule, the secret of all
life on the planet, is
explained and animated
through a giant model with
video and programmed
lighting effects.
Smaller hands-on models
invite visitors to un-twist
and un-zip the molecule.
11. Heredity Slots
Genes influenced the traits you
inherited in predictable – and
unpredictable – ways. Pull the
lever and explore the odds.
Cookie Factory
How is a cookie company like a
cell?A cookie company cranking
out cookies is a lot like a cell
making proteins. Every day our
cookie company makes and
delivers fresh cookies to stay in
business. Every day your cells
must make proteins for your
body to stay in business. An
animated set tells the story.
12. Find a Gene
Find the mutation by
matching a genetic
probe, a short strand
of DNA, to the test
DNA sequences.
The Frontier is Here!
The frontier of genomic
research is not only
coming, it's already here.
This gallery gateway is a
marquee of the latest
genomic news.
DNA Fingerprint
DNA fingerprinting looks
for similarities in specific
sections of DNA samples
from sources including
skin, saliva, blood and hair.
Visitors compare the
banded patterns of the
samples to find a match.
13. BRAIN: The World Inside Your Head
This 5,000 sq.ft. exhibition employs innovative
hands-on learning activities and interactive
technology to delve into the inner workings of the
brain, including its processes, potentials and
mysteries.
BRAIN literally takes visitors inside the head.
They probe the geography of a giant brain. Stand
in the midst of the brain's constant electrical
brainstorm as thoughts and sensations are
generated.
Along the special journey, visitors will discover
how the brain learns and thinks. They learn the
secrets of sleep and dreams; and the dangers,
causes and cures of disorders, diseases and
mental illnesses. Plus, the exhibit takes visitors
into the future of medical and technological
exploration of the brain.
14. Synapse Pop

makes the connection between
neurons, the brain's electrical
relay system.
They release a signal ball down
an axon tunnel setting off a light
show that imitates the action of
an electrical signal traveling
between neurons.
15. Brain Surgery Simulation with
Gamma Knife
This exhibit teaches visitors how
the brain controls the mind and
body, and how it may be affected
by diseases and disorders. A
gamma knife simulator allows
