• Detailed summary (lasting five minutes or
less) that includes information from the
beginning, middle and end of the book.
• This will be different for everyone / some
people will use more cards than others
• Try this strategy
• Cards 3 and 4 - beginning of book
• Cards 5 and 6 - middle of book
• Cards 7 and 8 - end of book

• Biography Card
– Three personality traits that make the person
noteworthy, what goals the person set, the
challenges the person encountered, and what you
learned from this person
Or
• True Adventure Card
– What makes your book a true adventure? Give a
brief description of the time in history that your
story is based in. What are the real events
6. Cards 10, 11, and 12
• Personality Trait # 1
• two examples from the story on how it applies
to your character
• Personality Trait # 2
• two examples from the story on how it applies
to your character

• Author’s Purpose
– Why did the author write this book? Be
specific and use examples from the book
– “because he wanted too” is not a good
reason and it has no support
