3. Applying Filters
 While all filters are available to be used on 8-bit RGB
images, many will be unavailable if working with
other color spaces, 16-bit, or 32-bit documents. Filters
will also be unavailable for use in Bitmap and
Indexed-color documents.
 If you’re not able to use filters, you may need to go
to Image > Mode, and make sure you’re set to RGB,
and 8 Bits/Channel, although some image data may
be lost.

4.  You can access the filter menu from Menu Bar > Filter
 The Filter menu is bursting at the seams with plug-ins
to improve, enhance, or completely transform your
image.

5. Installing Your Plugins
 Applications like Photoshop usually demand installing or
copying plugins to a predefined folder e.g. a folder
called "Plug-ins" which is located inside the application's
folder.
 Under 64-bit Windows you need to make sure that you
install 64-bit plugins in the Plug-ins sub folder of the
Photoshop 64-bit folder, which is usually located at
C:Program FilesAdobePhotoshop CS5. On the other
hand 32-bit plugins have to be placed in the Plug-Ins sub
folder of Photoshop 32-bit located at C:Program Files
(x86)AdobePhotoshop CS5. Under 32-bit Windows
and Mac OS X there is only one plugin folder, so this
problem does not arise.

6. Installing Your Plugins
 Once installed, plug-in modules appear as options in
the Import or Export menu; as file formats in the
Open, and Save As dialog boxes; or as filters in the
Filter submenus. Photoshop can accommodate a
large number of plug-ins. However, if the list of
installed plug-in modules becomes too long,
Photoshop may not be able to display all the
plug-ins in their appropriate menus. If so, newly
installed plug-ins appear in the Filter > Other
submenu.

7. Install a plug-in module
 In Mac OS, you cannot run Photoshop in the Classic
environment. Plug-ins originally intended to work on Mac
OS 9 won’t appear.
 To install an Adobe Systems plug-in module, use the
plug-in installer, if provided. In Windows, you can also
install or copy the module into the appropriate Plug-ins
folder in the Photoshop program folder. In Mac OS, drag
a copy of the module to the appropriate Plug-Ins folder in
the Photoshop program folder. Make sure that the files
are uncompressed.
 To install a third-party plug-in module, follow the
installation instructions that came with the plug-in
module. If you cannot run a third-party plug-in, it may
require a legacy Photoshop serial number.

8. Select an additional plug-ins folder
 Photoshop also allows users to choose another folder as
an additional plug-ins folder, to do this
 Choose Edit > Preferences > Plug-ins (Windows) or choose
Photoshop > Preferences > Plug-ins (Mac OS).
 Select Additional Plug-ins Folder.
 Click Choose, and select a folder or directory from the list.
Make sure that you do not select a location inside the
Plug-ins folder. To display the contents of a folder, double-
click the directory (Windows) or click Open (Mac OS).
 When you have highlighted the additional plug-ins folder,
click OK (Windows) or Choose (Mac OS).
 Restart Photoshop for the plug-ins to take effect.

9. Suppress the loading of plug-ins
 In the scenario that you need to suppress the
loading of the plugins or temporary ignored that
plugins due to in sufficient ram or other special
reasons, you can add a tilde ~ character at the
beginning of the plug-in name, folder, or directory.
That file (or all files in the folder) will be ignored by
the application.
