1. Water
UBBL 123(1), Where ducts or enclosures are provided in any building to accommodate pipes, cables or conduits the dimension of such ducts or enclosure shall be –(b) sufficiently large to permit access to cleaning eyes, stop cocks and other controls there to enable repairs, extensions and modifications to be made to each or all of the services accommodated.
UBBL 84 (1), Suitable measure shall be taken to prevent the penetration of dampness and moisture into ta building.
Reasoning: The work of repairing or modification pipes will be easier to access as they don’t last forever.
Electricity
UBBL Section 123 (1): Where ducts or enclosures are provided in any building to accommodate pipes, cables or conduits the dimensions of such ducts or enclosures shall be –(a) adequate for the accommodation if the pipes, cables or conduits and for crossings of branches and main together with supports and fixing.

Reasoning: The wires are not supposed to be exposed because the electric current in it can endanger life.

2. Sewerage
Law of Malaysia Act 133 Street, Drainage and Building Act 1974 Section 56 (1) Rainwater pipes not to be used as soil-pipes states that, “Not pipe used for carrying off rain water from any roof shall be used for the purpose of carrying off soil or drainage from any privy or water closet or any sullage water.”
Reasoning: They are not for soil it is because soil can cause blockage and it won’t decompose.
Drainage / Storm water
UBBL Section 115, All roofs of buildings shall be so constructed as to drain effectually to suitable and sufficient channels, gutters, chutes or troughs which shall be provided in accordance with the requirements of these By-Laws for receiving and conveying all water which may fall on and from the roof.
UBBL Section 91 (2), every parapet wall, free-standing wall or boundary wall shall be finished on top with an impervious material.
UBBL Section 84 (1), Suitable measures shall be taken to prevent the penetration of dampness and moisture into the building.
Reasoning: Ineffective drainage can cause the roof to held lots of water which increase the load. Besides, if the water stay there for long, they will cause damage to the roof and cause leakage.
