Tank, Financial Adviser and Author Ryan Mack, and Lynda Ireland, president
and CEO of the New York & New Jersey Minority Supplier Development
14. Many small business owners from all over the city were
invited to the seminars and learned helpful tips on how
to operate their business.

17. The Harlemwood film festival showcased
filmmakers documentaries about the spirit of
Harlem and many of the people that have
changed the cultures and history of Harlem.
Since we couldn’t take photos in the theater I
took some photos of the gallery that was
open to the attendees called “Spirit of
Community”. I took these photos with the
Sony Cybershot camera.

American Contemporary Artist specializing in Pop Art.
The crucifixion of Superman is about the sacrifices that a hero makes
for others and the lives that he may inspire.

23. David Shrobe’s “March” is about the law and
the system within the urban landscape, with
Harlem's response against police brutality. The
photo was taken from the protest and march of
slain victim Sean Bell . Sean Bell was killed on
his wedding day by police in a case of mistaken
identity. The image of Porky Pig portrays the
police and helps to create the disconnection
between the people who enforce the law and
the rest of the American people .

“Legs” is about the development
and progress of Harlem. “I
wanted to show the
development and progress of
Harlem, running faster and
faster towards a modernity
and diversity of cultures; not a
ghetto anymore but a wonderful
place, interacting between
communities.” said Siegelbaum.
25. “Jordan!” was created by the group
Harlem Current and was formed with actual
sheet metal from the A train in Harlem. The
A train became the connecting line
between NY’s largest black communities
Bedford Stuyvesant and Harlem, allowing
them to strengthen the community.

27. “Concrete Jungle” was a collaboration piece
by Diptych. Concrete Jungle captures the
joy in the community, regardless of the
everyday struggle that people may face.

36. The Harlem Week reception at Gracie Mansion was hosted
by Mayor Bloomberg and elected officials in New York.
Harlem Week is a week long event (soon to be month) that
showcases the cultures and history of Harlem. At the event
Kiss FM was awarded an honor for its thirty year anniversary.
Performances included the cast of the Broadway show "Baby
Its You” and Assata Alton from the Manhattan School of
music.
