• The average depth of the canyon is only about 1 mile.
• the width of marble canyon is about 600 yards long.
• On June 30, 1956, two planes flying from Los Angeles
to Chicago, a United Airlines DC-7 and a TWA
Constellation, had both requested permission to fly
into the Grand Canyon's airspace. The planes collided
directly over the canyon, killing everyone on board.

• One snake has an unusual pink hue that
matches the local rocks. It lives in marble
canyon.
• Marble Canyon is the section of the Colorado
River canyon in northern Arizona from Lee's
Ferry to the confluence with the Little
Colorado River, which marks the beginning of
the Grand Canyon.
11. Some more facts!
• The name Marble Canyon is a misnomer because there
is no marble there. Although Powell knew this when
he named the canyon, he thought the polished
limestone looked like marble.
• Sometimes the rocks are of many colors - white, gray,
pink, and purple, with saffron tints.
