6. SPECIALIST EXPERTISE
While we specialise in retail projects, the team also has wide reaching
experience and expertise across a broad range of sectors including
leisure, financial services, commercial, industrial, residential, healthcare,
education, ecclesiastical and community projects.
We don’t just deliver striking designs though. With NJSR, you also get
expert advice and support on practical issues, such as health and
safety requirements and the recently updated Construction Design
and Management 2007 Regulations.

Our EcoHomes assessors are registered with the Building Research
Establishment (BRE) to carry out EcoHomes, Code for Sustainable
Homes and BREEAM retail assessments.
We also offer specialist expertise in the restoration of listed buildings
and are one of only a limited number of UK architects accredited to
carry out English Heritage and lottery-funded conservation work.

10. NJSR PROJECT SERVICES
NJSR Project Services can help you with the full range of specialist
technical support and consultancy, from fire risk assessments to
asbestos management, Disability Discrimination Act access audits to
construction phase health and safety plans.
Whether you’re a designer, a principal contractor or an end client, we
can advise you on your responsibilities in relation to the latest CDM
regulations. As recognised experts in the field, we supply CDM co-
ordination services for a number of national clients.

12. PROJECT MANAGEMENT
NJSR Project Services provide bespoke project management from
inception to completion across multiple projects and disciplines.
CDM CO-ORDINATION
We also provide CDM co-ordination services and have advised national
clients, designers and principal contractors on their responsibilities
during the recent revision and introduction of the CDM Regulations 2007.

13. Environmental Assessments
NJSR Project Services provide
EcoHomes and Code for Sustainable
Homes Assessments as required by
the Housing Corporation, English
Partnerships and an increasing
number of local authority planning
departments.

14. HEALTH AND SAFETY MANAGEMENT
On-site audits of health and safety management systems are carried
out by our Health and Safety Management specialists. We also provide
health and safety training audits and file production.
BUILDING SURVEYING & FACILITIES
MANAGEMENT
A range of building surveying services are provided by our Building
Surveying & Facilities Management team including:
• Condition surveys
• Schedules of condition and dilapidation
• Planned preventative maintenance programme management
• Advice on operational maintenance regimes including
statutory requirements
• DDA access audits

15. Fire Risk Assessments
We regularly advise on the
application of the Regulatory
Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005,
which places an obligation on
employers in England and Wales
to carry out fire risk assessments.
Asbestos Management
Services
NJSR Project Services can arrange
and co-ordinate asbestos surveys
and subsequent management of
on-site works. We can provide
on-site audits and associated
reports of approved asbestos
contractors’health and safety
management systems.

architectural specialists, with over
70 years experience helping to shape
the high street presence of some of
the country’s best known brands.
While our expertise embraces
bespoke new build and complex
store conversions, we excel
particularly in the provision of fast
track multiple fit-outs where speed,
accuracy and delivery to budget
are critical.

21. Since our first commission from Marks
& Spencer, we’ve continued to design
and refurbish M&S stores in more
than 150 locations - from flagship
new stores to renewal roll outs.
We’ve played a leading role in the
nationwide programme of store
modernisation, including space
planning for coffee shops and Per
Una outlets and rebranding front
façades across a wide range of
diverse building designs.

22. We’ve helped support Primark’s rapid
expansion programme with multiple
contract conversions of both high
street and shopping centre properties.
We’ve also refurbished H.Samuel and
Ernest Jones jewellery shops,
completed nationwide new store
builds and modifications for Boots and
the Co-op and recently completed a
store in Hounslow for Asda.
We’ve completed store fit-outs for
Vision Express, built new catalogue
fulfillment and distribution centres
and delivered new Calvin Klein store
designs in the UK and the Middle East.
We’ve provided technical CDMC
support for the flagship Mexx store in
Oxford Street, London, designed
multiple projects within the
Wayfayrers shopping arcade in
Southport and the Gyle shopping
centre in Edinburgh and designed
over 20 projects for FCUK.

25. The NJSR leisure team has
designed more than 30 health and
fitness centres nationwide, most
recently fitting out a number of JJB
sports club shell schemes to
include swimming pools, spas, full
gym facilities and retail units.
We are lead architects on Floral
Hall in Southport, a £20m mixed
use waterfront development
incorporating a hotel, casino, bars
and restaurants, an exhibition
space and public realm works.
Other recent projects include
sports halls for the YMCA, a rugby
clubhouse refurbishment, a new
build 100 bedroom budget hotel,
interior design and refurbishment
of Wagamama restaurants and golf
and country club developments.

we’ve helped HBOS and
Nationwide Building Society to
introduce a bright, contemporary
look to their high street branch
interiors across the UK - with an
emphasis on better facilities and
customer friendliness.
For M&S Money, we have carried
out a nationwide roll-out of over
one hundred state-of-the-art
Bureau de Change and ATM
installations, combining high tech
facilities with eco-friendly materials.
We’ve also injected fresh thinking
into a long list of design and
construction projects for the
former Swiss Life Group, Halifax
Building Society, and Leeds
Permanent Building Society.

scheme design and builds. We
work with commercial developers,
local authorities, housing
associations and private clients on
both new build and conversion
projects.
Experience ranges from luxury city
centres penthouses to special
needs housing, high density urban
new builds to listed mill
conversions. We have also
managed award-winning
conversions of listed country
houses for private clients.
We are registered with the BRE
(Building Research Establishment)
to carry out assessments under the
Code for Sustainable and
EcoHomes.

37. NJSR’s team of AABC (Architects
Accredited in Building) certified
architects are highly skilled in the
conservation and restoration of listed
buildings and are registered to carry
out English Heritage and lottery
funded projects.
As consultant architects for several
churches in the North West, we
provide specialist advice on
compliance with the Church
Measures Act 1955 and have driven a
10 year programme of repair and
restoration at the Holy Trinity church
in Southport.
We have also designed a Gujurat
Hindu Temple and community centre
with bespoke stonework and interiors.
