The German offensive of 1918 saw them advance 60 kilometers and threaten Paris through surprise tactics and short artillery barrages from March to April. The Allies were able to halt the German advance by May-July. From August to November, the Allies launched their own offensives including decisive victories at Amiens and the Somme, forcing the Germans to retreat to the Hindenburg Line until an armistice was signed on November 11th.
