The title sequence of the film Se7en establishes a dark, mysterious, and unsettling mood. It begins with an out-of-focus shot of a book in a dark room, with unseen hands behind it, piquing the audience's curiosity. Close-up shots of a man's dirty fingertips and hands cutting them suggest he is trying to remove fingerprints, indicating he is a criminal. Unclear and flickering white text on a dark background matches this sinister tone. Images of the man altering a dollar bill and sewing a disturbing book further imply a religious or ideological motivation for his disturbing acts. The unclear storyline heightens the creepy atmosphere and leaves audiences wanting more information to solve the mysteries presented.

2.  In the first shot of the title sequence shows a blank book l in focus.
This adds a very dark and sinister effect as the room is dark around it
, perhaps a cellar .The audience becomes curious as to why this
book is important and were is the location?. As well as this the
audience can also see an out focused pair of hands behind the book
which adds to the mysterious initial shot. The audience then
question as they want to know who's hands they are . Finally ,The
music in the background sounds distorted and eerie which adds to
the scary effect.

3.  In Seven the shots used in this title sequence was
dominated by close ups , this only gives of a small
amount of clues as its keeping a lot hidden away from
the audiences eyes.
 The character in here , we only see in extreme and
normal close ups The reason for this is to keep the
audience curious because they cannot analyse the
mise en scene quick enough .There are close ups on
his finger tips and close up on his hands.The fact his
hands are dirty too suggest that perhaps he is some
sort of criminal as he is slicing his finger tips off to get
rid of his fingerprints. Indicating , he is the criminal.

5.  The font of the titles are rough and un neat , as a
audience it seems like a males handwriting.They
also flicker a lot which adds to the thriller/horror
genre as they are not still and boring. As well as this
they are bright white on a flickering grey and black
background which is a sharp contrast between the
two.The font being handwritten makes us think
automatically this is the font of the male .

6.  Religion is suggested as the man doesn’t believe in God because he
cuts out the word God from the dollar bill and then tapes down a
picture of what seems to be a torture idea of a man with a contraption
around his head which includes a screw going through the front of his
face.We then see many flashing images of the of him sewing his book
together which could imply he is creating his own bible of some sort.
 In addition , he goes over the words ‘transsexual, homosexual’.This
indicated that perhaps he want these types of people gone out of his
world , that seems to him they shouldn’t be here.

7.  . A main point which is so powerful about this
title sequence is the story line is partly un
clear , but this has a knock on effect for the
audience as it makes the mood more creepy
as you don’t know what's going to
happen. Therefore , Se7en has a very
powerful title sequence which makes the
audience curious and leaves them wanting
more which forces them to continue the
movie.
