1. Private Detective:
The private detective is cold hearted and job focused, he shows no emotions; this
makes his killing at the end of the film easy for him (foreshadowing fictional character).
Husband’s ‘lover’:
This character is shown as a selfish and manipulating character, this changes towards
the end; she is shown as vulnerable as the wife decided she wants to kill her.
DESCRIPTION OF KEY CHARACTERS
Wife:
The ‘wife’ is seen as a vulnerable character and is portrayed as innocent; but later on
she develops into a paranoid and psychotic character.
Husband:
The husband is conveyed as a cheater and is a mysterious character, but later on in the
film he becomes innocent and shown as a victim.

2. Beginning:
At the beginning of the film the wife hires a private detective due to the fact she thought she
was being cheated on by her husband. (Private detective follows husband)
Middle:
In the middle of the film the detective gains knowledge on the husband and finds him guilty, as
he has been seen in a restaurant.
End:
Towards the end of the film the wife asks the private detective to kill the husbands ‘lover’, we
witness the killing yet we do not see who the murderer is.
Resolution:
We discover that the detective is just a figment of the wife’s imagination and she has killed an
innocent woman due to her paranoia and psychotic nature.

We researched into the movie called An Act Of Violence which is a thriller noir, this
influenced us as it had an old fashioned theme to it, similar to our old fashioned plot.
