This is a presentation quickly knocked together for Danfox Davies to present his company Vulpine Designs Unlimited, the concept of Freedom Of Form and the hackerspace they're trying to start in the Bournemouth and Poole area, the Dorset Constructorium, at Barcamp Bournemouth 5 9th March 2013 at Bournemouth University. Apologies if the slides by themselves don't make enough sense, this was designed for ad-libbing to by someone who knows what they're talking about like all the best presentations might be.
3. WHY
● Why accept what you're given when you know
how to make it better?
● How can we learn how to be more than the sum
of our parts? (apologies if any of this sounds corporate, blame my
weekend job)
● What do hackers love to do?
● Why 'hack'? (computer security cracking should be referred to
separately to avoid confusion)
● Why are we all here this weekend?

4. So what's all this Freedom Of Form
stuff about, then?
● It means different things for different people in
different contexts
● Here it means we are free to choose our form of
interaction with technology and with day-to-day
things, with each other and even ourselves.
● Not content to be dictated to by manufacturers and
designers, we will choose our own path.
● This is part of why Vulpine Designs is Unlimited. I
won't let it limit itself or anybody.
● The Dorset Constructorium is a place to focus on
this need to develop Freedom Of Form.
5. Eh?
● More choice and lots of fun making and
breaking things with a sort of philosophical
ideal and an umbrella company to take the
strain behind it.
● Lots of tea and cool projects.
● A chance to shape the future in some small
way.

14. Exploring, learning, doing and making
New things, old things, fixing and breaking
Not being afraid to void warranty
To open, to tweak, to improve quality
People with skills, people curious
People who with proprietary closed source are furious
For fun, for invention, for the first ever
For the community and the world whatever the weather
Dismantle, rebuild, design and use
Hackers and makers can win what consumers lose
So before you buy replacements from an emporium
You’ll remember what you learnt at the
Dorset Constructorium!
