• In depth study of each science
• Minimum 5 periods per week
• Article reviews and research projects
• Science Practical Assessment (SPA) –
assessment of 3 skills over 2 years, no
practical exams.

Sci (Chemistry /Physics)
• Study of 2 sciences combined as 1 mark
• Content is ¾ that of pure sciences
• Minimum 4 periods per week per
science.
• Will have to take practical exam in Sec
4E or Sec 5NA.

3 Express Pure Sciences
• Consistent B3 and above (Minimum 70%
and above) for sec 2 science overall
• Overall percentage of 70% and above for
pupils to offer triple sciences. (Biology as
the 8th
subject in 3E1)
• Keen interest in the science subject
• Have the determination and self
discipline for consistent revision.

a) Junior Colleges
• Better adaptability to the Sciences at H2 level
if pure sciences are offered at ‘O’ levels.
• Taking of sci(phy/chem) will provide foundation
for JC Science as well
b) Polytechnics
• Engineering courses require pupils to take
Physics (pure or sci(phy)
• Biotech or Biomedical courses require
Chemistry (pure or sci(chem) & having Bio is
advantage.
• Offering Sci(Phy/Chem) can meet the criteria
for most courses.
