2. Provide a brief description of the role and responsibilities of all
identified personnel in your organizational chart.


Job Descriptions


   •   Board of Trustees - exercise educational leadership and draft policies for
       the operation of local schools; determine educational standards and goals
       and evaluate the outcomes; approve curriculum; secure money for school
       operational needs and authorize specific expenditures; approve the
       budget

   •   Superintendent of Schools – administers policies in the operation of
       schools; advisor in keeping the Board informed of the needs and progress
       of the schools; his recommendations precede Board action relating to
       instructional material and development of curriculum

   •   Associate Superintendent – (Technology & School Services) –
       responsible for disseminating and enforcing applicable district policies and
       acceptable use guidelines; ensures that employees supervising students
       emphasize the appropriate use of the resource; ensure all software loaded
       on computers is consistent with district standards and is properly licensed

   •   Director Tech/Support Services – ensures technology/support services to
       the district

   •   Director of Information Services - ensures information services to district

   •   Director Instructional Tech - ensures integration of technology in the
       classrooms by providing materials, resources, and training

   •   Campus Principal – monitor instructional and managerial processes to
       ensure that program activities are related to program outcomes and use
       these findings for corrective action and improvement

   •   Curriculum Coordinator – serves as a catalyst for innovation, including use
       of technology for delivery of instruction

   •   Library Media Specialist/Technology Liaison - provides technology
       support and instruction to staff

   •   Teachers – ensure that TEKS objectives are met using current technology

   •   Person that originates the idea – presents idea to Principal and if
       considered a good idea, then presented in reverse order back up the
       organizational chart




3. Discuss the role of the principal in making sure the organizational chart
is implemented and monitored.

The principal has the task of collaborating with everyone involved to ensure that
the goals are implemented and evaluated. The principal must align the CIP with
that of the DIP. The principal is responsible for seeing that all staff receives
professional development in the technology area and learns to integrate the
technology into their lessons and assignments. The principal must read and
analyze data-driven documents to find the schools strengths and weaknesses.
Any deficient areas must be addressed and goals for improvement must be set.
The principal must continually collaborate with personnel both at the campus and
district levels.



Week 4 Assignment, Part 2: Professional Development Planning

Using the campus and district improvement plans, and any suggested
technology improvements, develop professional development activities
that include the following:


Professional Development Plan

1. Reference Analysis and lessons learned about the technology
needs from the Week 3 report.


District Improvement Plan –

Objectives:

Expand teachers’ effective use of instructional technology to promote higher level
thinking by:


   -   Implementing and monitoring use of instructional software;

   -   developing curriculum that makes effective use of content-specific
       software prices, equipment, media, and online services;



   -   assign elementary technology curriculum coaches to specific content
       areas;


   -   continue to explore uses of distance learning, podcasting, and virtual
       classrooms.




Campus Improvement Plan –

Objectives:

Teachers – Professional Development –

   -   teachers will attend staff development and conferences to assist them in
       developing lessons to address learning differences


   -   teachers will be supported by coaches facilitating team level professional
       development specific to technology instruction


   -   teachers will be supported in technology integration


   -   technology implementation by using higher levels of technology (Smart
       boards, airliners, etc.)


   -   attend district provided staff development for technology

   -   teachers will integrate technology lessons to increase student interaction
       with curriculum materials




District Technology Plan –

Need: The district has a continuing need to maintain and increase the level of
professional development necessary to assist teachers in using technology
effectively in the teaching and learning process.
Goal: Provide school district staff with opportunities to learn how to appropriately
integrate technology as a tool utilizing collaborative, interactive and customized
learning environments in an effort to achieve the Target Tech level in the Texas
STaR chart.


Objectives:
   - increase content of professional development to Target Tech level by
      providing teachers opportunities to participate in the development of
      technology skills


   -   strategies to create new learning environments that empower students to
       think critically to solve real-world problems and collaborate with experts
       across business, industry and higher education


   -    increase the models of professional development to the Advanced Tech
       level by providing ongoing professional development utilizing multiple staff
       development models


   -   Increase participation in technology professional development (19-29
       hours) to achieve Advanced Tech level


   -   Maintain professional development for online learning at Target Tech by
       promoting participation in professional development on the customization
       of online courses or content for appropriate subject areas.

Professional Development


Class Name: Cyber-Ethics
Who: All faculty members
Description of Training: Focus will be on educating teachers on computer ethics.
Teachers will be taught to teach by example; work cyber ethics into assignments
and discussions and resources for cyber ethics.
Purpose: Train teachers so that they can teach students how to properly follow
computer ethic rules.
Date: On-Line Training


Class Name: STar Chart Training
Who: All faculty members
Description of Training: Focus will be on completing teacher survey.
Purpose: Teachers will complete the Texas Teacher STar Chart.
Date: On-Line


Class Name: Video Technology Training
Who: Anyone interested staff
Description of Training: Video technology share session
Purpose: Share video technology knowledge and skills

Class Name: Adobe Acrobat Portfolios – Challenge by Choice Technology
Who: Any interested teacher
Description of Training: Teachers will learn about Adobe portfolios, apply to their
classrooms and post comments on the elementary Wiki.
Purpose: Integrate technology into the classroom environment and share using
technology.
Date: On-Line



Class Name: Project Share Intro Meeting
Who: All staff
Description of Training: Introduce staff to new global online learning community.
Purpose: Educators collaborate, share resources, and share accomplishments
Date: 2:45 – 3:45


Class Name: COGNOS Training
Who: All staff
Description of Training: Introduce staff to Teacher Dashboards and Reports.
Purpose: To gain information from a variety of sources to see student
performance.
Date: 2:45 – 3:45 in Library


Class Name: Technology Parent-Teacher Nights
Who: Parents
Description of Training: Teachers will work with parents to explore technology
uses to heighten student success (i.e. PIV, Schoolwires, on-line library resources
and textbooks, content-specific technology applications).
Purpose: Teach parents how to use technology with their children.
Date: Monthly, First Tuesday from 7:00 – 8:00 pm


Class Name: Technology On-Line
Who: Any staff
Description of Training: Technology Webinars to teach staff new technologies
Purpose: Teach technology to staff
Date: Available 24/7

Week 4 Assignment, Part 3: Evaluation Planning for Action Plan


Uses data and other analysis from the Week 3 report, including using the
campus and district improvement plans, and local or state technology
plans.

Provides assessments and/or monitoring reports measuring professional
development designed to use technology to improve gathering, analysis
and use of data from a variety of sources

Provides assessments and/or monitoring evaluating professional
development to improve decision making in the integration of technology
with instructional and organizational leadership




Evaluation:

Teacher STaR Chart Summary: provides information as to where the district
needs to provide more technology instruction in order for teachers to be more
proficient at integrating technology into their classrooms.

Campus STaR Chart Summary: provides information on how technology is
used and integrated into the classroom.

Project Share: Allows staff to input data to share with stakeholders.

COGNOS: enables staff to track various student test scores, attendance, and
item analysis on SFA’s.


Cyber-Ethics: School will have less computer ethics violations.

PDAS Teacher Evaluations: The PDAS has a section to evaluate the teacher
for the use and integration of technology into the lesson. Evaluation will include
direct observations of teachers activities in the classroom, examinations of the
work products, written data.

TEKS: provides information on student technology applications

Discuss the role of the principal in making sure the organizational chart is implemented and monitored. The principal has the task of collaborating with everyone involved to ensure that the goals are implemented and evaluated. The principal must align the CIP with that of the DIP. The principal is responsible for seeing that all staff receives professional development in the technology area and learns to integrate the technology into their lessons and assignments. The principal must read and analyze data-driven documents to find the schools strengths and weaknesses. Any deficient areas must be addressed and goals for improvement must be set. The principal must continually collaborate with personnel both at the campus and district levels. Week 4 Assignment, Part 2: Professional Development Planning Using the campus and district improvement plans, and any suggested technology improvements, develop professional development activities that include the following: Professional Development Plan 1. Goal: Provide school district staff with opportunities to learn how to appropriately integrate technology as a tool utilizing collaborative, interactive and customized learning environments in an effort to achieve the Target Tech level in the Texas STaR chart. Objectives: - increase content of professional development to Target Tech level by providing teachers opportunities to participate in the development of technology skills - strategies to create new learning environments that empower students to think critically to solve real-world problems and collaborate with experts across business, industry and higher education - increase the models of professional development to the Advanced Tech level by providing ongoing professional development utilizing multiple staff development models - Increase participation in technology professional development (19-29 hours) to achieve Advanced Tech level - Maintain professional development for online learning at Target Tech by promoting participation in professional development on the customization of online courses or content for appropriate subject areas.

Purpose: To gain information from a variety of sources to see student performance.
