1. How did you use new media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?
2. Equipment used for this project: Camera Equipment Video Camera Tri pod Camera Battery Charger DV video tape USB cable Still Camera Lighting Car head Lights Editing Adobe Elements 8.0 Adobe Photoshop CS3 Extended
3. Music Video In comparison to the beginning of the year I now have a lot more knowledge on how to use the Adobe editing software. I have never used this before so I did not even know the basics. In doing this project I have learnt many skills. I now know how to: Cut the footage and move it int0 the preferred order. Change the colour and contrast of the video clips (for example changing it to black and white) Add a variety of transitions and changing their speeds appropriately to get the right effect. Also add fade in and outs. Add layers and change the opacity so that the clips overlap each other Delete the audio from the clips so I can replace it with the music I want Export the video to an AVI file from the software format.
4. Ancillary Tasks For the ancillary tasks I used Photoshop. Although I had basic knowledge of editing software I expanded my knowledge this year when creating both my digi-pack and poster. I learnt: Remove blemishes from pictures Upload a picture to Photoshop or create an file Change the colour and contrast/colouring to add effect Use blending options when layering photos to change the style Crop Pictures Change opacity of the photo Add text and shapes. From doing both of these tasks I have learnt more about using the video camera and have gained more knowledge on shots angles/sizes.
5. Websites Used For this project I have used these websites: www.tumblr.com www.facebook.com www.wikipedia.com www.google.com www.dafont.com www.youtube.com
6. How New Technologies Benefited Me Camera Equipment Video Camera- This helped me film my music video, to a fairly high standard. Tri pod- helped me keep the camera steady, in shots where this was necessary Camera Battery Charger- Charged the battery for the camera so that I could use it without it losing power. DV video tape- held the video/shots so I could upload them onto the computer to edit USB cable- connected the camera to the computer so I could transfer video on to the computer. Still Camera- Taking pictures for my ancillary tasks and for my pre production work, supporting my music video
7. How New Technologies Benefited Me Lighting Car head Lights- Strange source of light this helped me shoot the parts of my video in the dark, showing to be an effective source of light. It helped make the characters clear and represent a bit more of a dramatic idea, fitting with the song Editing Adobe Elements 8.0- This aided me to edit my footage so that it began to look like a music video. This helped me add all the effects and add all transitions and cuts in so it had the structure I wanted. Adobe Photoshop CS3 Extended- This I used for my ancillary tasks helping me design the poster and digi-pack. Using this I could overlay and change blending giving the effect I wanted as well as had fonts and shapes necessary to give the information needed
8. Websites: www.tumblr.com – This is the blogging website I used to upload my work onto. It helped me present my work in an organised manner and in the correct order. www.facebook.com – This I used to upload my video on to get feedback from people on both my music video and ancillary tasks. This is a more effective way of doing rather than using paper questionnaires. www.wikipedia.com – This I used for most of my research for my video, finding out about particular artists I wasn’t too sure on. This can be not be totally reliable but it is helpful for most information
9. Websites: www.google.com – This was the search engine I used for all of my research. It helped me find designs of ancillary tasks from other artists whilst also helping me with finding certain information I wasn't sure on. www.youtube.com – This is what I used for my video analysis helping me view the videos I was analysing and giving me ideas for what I could use for my own. www.dafont.com – Although I didn’t use any font’s from this website, I used it to give me an understanding of what I wanted to use for my ancillary designs so I had a better idea of what I was looking for on Photoshop.
