One of two main avionics units onboard all AW139s outputs an ARINC 573/717 data stream to the Multi-Purpose Flight Recorder (MPFR), which acts as a combined cockpit voice recorder and flight data recorder (CVR/FDR)
CWC-AE's MPFR delivers weight savings with combined CVR/FDR for AgustaWestland AW139s

and flight data recorder (CVR/FDR)
Results
100% positive data retrieval feedback
Time and money saved with fast,
accessible accident data from a
small, light weight recorder
Customers receive easily accessible
flight data
2. MPFR is standard fit on all
AW139s
The System
All data on-board the AW139 is processed by
the Honeywell Primus Epic avionics suite.
One of two main avionics units, outputs an ARINC 573/717
data stream that is the input to the MPFR, which acts as a
combined cockpit voice recorder and flight data recorder
(CVR/FDR).
Over 700 parameters captured including
• Those required for EUROCAE ED-55 and EDA-56A
CVR/FDR compliance
• Engine data
• Avionics info
• Install parameters
• Fuel parameters
MPFR records up to 20 hours of data at 512 words per
second in a continuous loop
Multi-Purpose Flight
Recorder (MPFR)
Reduce Weight and Complexity
Less than 7.0lb (3.2kg) including
under water locator beacon
Dual purpose system for flight
data and crash recording
Lower Operating Costs
Attaches directly to airframe
Fast Ethernet data recovery
Exceed data requirements
Exceeds all EUROCAE ED-55 and
EDA-56A compliance
requirements
3. Complete data protection
through rugged design
The MPFR was selected
because if its small size,
low weight, combined
CVR/FDR functionality,
seamlessly integrated
software and ease of use.
Result I
100% positive accident data retrieval feedback
from an installed base of over 500 MPFRs
• Even if the device was severely damaged or
submerged in water,
• Never lost flight data due to memory corruption.
• MPFR has never been returned to AgustaWestland
due to an operational fault or suspicious activity.

4. Applications
Accident Incident
Recording
Flight Data Recording
Result II
Time and money saved with fast and accessible
accident data from a small, light weight
recorder
Light weight, compact and easy to install
• MPFR is 30% - 50% lighter than competing products
• Pre-configured, install requires a single cable
connection (that provides power and data)and 4
screws.
• Attaches directly to airframe and small enough to
fit in the tail
Fast accident data retrieval
• Don’t incur costs waiting for data retreival and
processing post accident
• Data is downloaded and processed at the crash
site via a10/100MB Fast Ethernet interface to a PC
using standard network hardware and protocols.
Saves time and money
5. High quality data flight
after flight
User friendly PGS data
analysis and visualization
Result III
Easily accessible flight data
• On-board data available in under two minutes
• Networked directly to a remote base for
diagnostics and fault reporting.
• AgustaWestland’s customers are able to collect,
access, and analyze data from the first flight.
