The Coos Bay School District established a Facilities Planning Committee to develop a long-term plan to address aging school facilities. The committee toured each school, considered upgrades needed, and made recommendations to the School Board, including that all schools require major upgrades and some should be replaced. A Facilities Task Force was also established to gather community input on a vision for school facilities and recommend a general obligation bond. The document discusses issues with the aging buildings and need to consider factors like teaching environments, technology, and community use in developing a facilities plan.
