This document summarizes several livestock and dairy financing models tested in East and Southern Africa. It describes the Ekwatho Financing Scheme model from Namibia which guarantees farmers a minimum price and various production services in exchange for allowing quarterly inspections and interest payments. It also outlines the Swaziland beef value chain finance model and a dairy market hubs model tested in Tanzania which connects farmers, transporters, input suppliers, hardware suppliers and village banks. The work is a partnership between various organizations and was funded by IFAD, Irish Aid and CGIAR programs.
