2. Here’s a little interesting info on
• Ohio was the 17th nation admitted into the
Union. It is the 34th largest state via land.
• The word “Ohio” is Iroquois for “great river.”
• During the Civil War, Ohio gave the biggest
amount of Union soldiers to the effort.
• One of the neatest thing about Ohio is that
eight presidents have been from here, giving it
the nickname “Mother of Presidents.”

• Alright class! This week will we be covering
information on the Presidents who have come
from Ohio. You live in this great state and
need to learn about some of the things it has
contributed. This interactive power point will
give you a little background information to aid
you in learning for this week. We will go into
more detail on the Presidents over the next
few days. It will end with a simple quiz to test
you, so study up!

• Harrison was the 23rd President and lived from
1833-1901. He was a senator before
becoming President. After his death, from a
cold, he was kept alive on United Postal
Service stamps. He appears on several more
than other Presidents.
