John Rich has made it to the finals on The Celebrity Apprentice this season, and he hopes to earn the
win in Sunday's finale. Each celebrity is playing for charity this season, and John is working to raise
money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Many people have heard of St. Jude's before, but
not everybody knows just what they accomplish and how the money Rich raises can make a
significant impact.
The American Cancer Society states that approximately 12,060 children in the United States under
the age of 15 will be diagnosed with cancer in 2012, with an estimate of one in 330 children to
develop cancer by age 20. While these rates are scary, thankfully advancements in care make a
difference.
"Here's this kid waiting on a train with no concept of what to do or where that train is going, but
hoping that someone leads him in the right direction," he said.
The 2nd annual Habitrot 5K will take place in Concord's Les Myers Park. The race starts in the park
and snakes around to McEachem Greenway and finishes up in McGee Park. The race starts at 9 a.m.
and race fees are $25. Proceeds benefit the Cabarrus County Habitat for Humanity.
Division I, II and III teams will face off after coming through their regular season and regional
playoffs. The divisions are split on team size and ability, with Division 1 featuring some of the
countries elite players.
