1. Inside the World of Social Media From a Marketing Perspective on Nordstrom Inc.
2. Nordstrom hires a Social Media expert! If hiring a social media expert doesn’t prove that Nordstrom is dedicated to serving the public and reaching the consumers I’m not sure what will. This was just another indication that social media is growing in web retailing. It doesn’t cut it any longer just to have a website to market your products and business, you need to go where the people are which is on social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter and Linkedin. Towards the beginning of this year Nordstrom hired Shauna Causey as their head of social business, a new position that was added to the work force.
3. Can companies succeed without Social Media? In the trade book I read it brought to light that some companies don’t see it’s necessity yet, however, as it becomes more and more essential I believe that these skeptics will get left behind. They can still use advertising in order to market products, but since most people are so internet bound it won’t have the same affect. In my opinion it’s a no brainer!! USE SOCIAL MEDIA…it’s your friend!
4. Retail and Social Media I have noticed that more and more retail companies are incorporating social media into their marketing plans. Nordstrom for example, has a social media expert and a team that works on that aspect of the company. They have a Facebook page for customers to ask questions whether it be about the products or just to get advice. Nordstrom also has a blog and a twitter. I follow them on Twitter and they are constantly on there to help the customers as well as to let the public know they are there to help. With this as an advantage it causes me as a valued customer to appreciate them even more, that they are there for me to come to at any given moment. That is true service.
9. Nordstrom incorporates Facebook: On NordstromsFacebook page it’s not just about “liking” things…at least on their page its so you can interact with the social media team. This benefits both me as the customer and them as the marketer to gain more credibility. “Liking” Nordstrom is to help them gain more customers, but also to give us an outlet to go in order to fulfill our needs.

14. Nordstrom’s Revenue grows… For the quarter that ended on April 30th of 2011 the Seattle based company earned $145 million or 65 cents per share. Its obvious that after hiring the social media expert in February of this year that their revenue increased and sales grew. Nordstrom’s net earnings increased by 39% to $613 million from $441 million in 2009, this was increased do to their new hire, Causey the social media expert.
16. Don’t be one of those that gets left behind in technology and success… This is what Businesses are missing out on without Social Networking in their Marketing Plan.
