3. 3
What?
Aim of the project is to improve energy
efficiency of datacentres through:
- gaining and exchanging valuable knowledge
- develop new tools
- starting concrete projects
- the implementation of a certification scheme
for energy efficient datacentres
4. 4
Why?
Because the statistics convince us to take action:
The Amsterdam sector uses 160 GWh annually
Accounts for 6% of GHG emissions of industry
Is growing rapidly (>8% annually)
plenty technological opportunities to improve energy efficiency
(up to 25% through new cooling techniques)
Datacentres can improve economic results
An energy efficiency and sound environmental IT sector is
pillar of a strong economic sector
5. 5
How?
Platform for exchanging best practise and state-of-the-art
knowledge and experience
Input from experts (Cisco, TNO, ECN, etc)
Public and Private partnership
Delivering publicity to good initiatives (ao through CUD
and Climate Program of City of Amsterdam)
Develop instruments through which the sector can show
her “greenness” to customers
7. 7
When?
