This document provides instructions for elementary school students on proper library etiquette and procedures. It outlines what students should do when returning books, checking out books, sitting in the library, and using remaining time after checking out books. The instructions emphasize being quiet, orderly, and respecting library materials and rules.

2. Today is library day! I will turn my books in: on the red cart when I get to the library. on the cart in my mod, first thing in the morning. on the checkout desk in a stack.
4. Yes! on library day, turn in your books on the cart in your mod before 8:30!
5. When my class enters the library, I should: sit down in a square on the rug & see what is planned today. run to the rug and push to get onto my favorite square. chat with my friends until someone tells me what to do.
8. It’s library day, and I turned in 2 books. I want to keep my other book for a 2 nd check out. I should: leave it in my desk at library time—I can just tell Mrs. Laarman that I want to recheck it! bring it with me at library time. I’ll choose my other 2 books & then I’ll check out all my books at once. loudly tell Mrs. Laarman that she’s wrong when she says I have a book checked out.
10. Right If you are not yet finished with a book, you can check it out a second time! Just bring it with you to the library, choose your other 2 books, and check them all out at once! Right!
11. When we come to the library, I see that the cart & projector are set up, so we may be using them today. I know that I should: sit in a chair at the round tables. not sit on the carpet. be careful not to sit behind the cart where I can’t see the screen.
14. Mrs. Camp calls my name when she lists students who have an overdue book. I do not think I have a book checked out. I should: wave my hand and call, “But I turned it in!” go to the X when it’s time to look for books. I’ll ask Mrs. Laarman to check the computer for me. sit down at the magazine table & cry.
16. Mrs. Laarman or Mrs. Camp can check on the computer to see what you have checked out. Don’t panic! Yes!
17. It is time to check out books! Now, I should: walk to get a book buddy and use it properly while I look for an interesting book to read. choose 2 drawing books and an origami book, then walk silently to the checkout desk. browse CARLWeb for 15 minutes, and then… oh no ! I don’t have any time left to check out a book!
19. Good! Use your book buddy to keep our books in order on the shelves!
20. I’ve found 3 cool books, and I am ready to check out. I know that now I should: look for a good book for my friend until it’s time to go. put up my book buddy and go quietly back to class. stand in line behind the X until it is my turn to check out.
23. After I check out my books, we have 5 minutes left in the library. I know that I should: browse the shelves looking at books that I remember from second grade. use CARLWeb to search for a book that I might want to check out next week. sit in a chair at a table and enjoy my books quietly.
