5. JOTA DE MURCIA
Their origin remain unclear.
The etymology (origin) of the word could come from the
verb XOTAR (skip).
Quoted for the first time in 1761 in a farce (sainete), but it
seems that already existed from XVII Century.
His compass is to be written in ternary 3 / 4 or 6 / 8.
6. They are built mostly with major scales
and it consists of two parts:
- One instrumental, as a ritornello
(chorus).
- Another one is the verse, in which
the singers try to show off their
powers.
8. Malagueña
Its origin seems to be in the eighteenth century.
Sometimes confused with Fandango.
It hasn’t a specified form.
Depends on the singer, it shows a happy or sad
expression on their lyrics.
9. Retains the merits of
the Andalusian
poetry rooted in
flamenco singing.
It is constructed with
a mixture of major
scales, minor and
flamenco.
