2. • We understand folklore as the traditions
and customs relating to the culture of
peoples.
• We highlight the musical folklore, since
most of the expressions of popular culture
have music as main protagonist.
3. FOLKLORE ANDALUZ
• Folclore andaluz: Flamenco, and jota
(sevillanas, malagueñas, alegrías, bulerías,
soleá...).
The flamenco is a very old and has many
variants: seguiriya, solea, the martinete and
the fandango.
Flamenco dancing is done together with the
cante (typical flamenco songs), some dances
are the alegrías, bulerías, sevillanas and
verdiales.

• Folklore gallego: alalá, muñeira,
pandeirada, jota.
• Among the traditional dances of the
community we can highlight “the muñeira”
danced in the rhythm of 6 / 8.
20. COMUNIDAD DE MADRID
Most popular dance: Chotis.
Couples dance developed in the late nineteenth
century in Madrid. It is usually danced in a
given area and the dancers hardly move
outside that part.
