member of UNESCO, the Head of the
Indonesian Delegation is welcoming
the diplomatic accomplishment of the
Palestinians.““I’’m surprised and grateful
at once, that our brothers in Palestine
have started a new era to re-position
themselves in the international
community. The membership of
Palestine at the UNESCO is a living
proof of the shift of the global power
which originally held by the West, now
swings to the East.””

Mr. Santoso as the Head of the Indonesian Delegation also informed that at
the 7th Session of PUIC Conference, the House of Representatives of the
Republic of Indonesia as the President of PUIC will initiate the establishment
of a Specialized Commission on Palestine. Such Commission will be
following and assisting the struggle of the Palestinians in achieving their
independence and supporting the establishment of a sovereign Palestine.
““As in a ‘‘total football’’, the House of Representatives of the Republic of
Indonesia will put its greatest effort in supporting the Statehood of the
Palestine with pre-1967 state borders and Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.””

of Indonesia received us since our arrival in its blessed
land showering on us generous hospitality and extreme
attention. In the city of Palembang, where our Conference
is holding its proceedings, we have found warm reception,
hospitality and excellent organization for our Conference.
Our attention has been drawn to the generosity and good
behavior of the Indonesian people in a way that represents
the unique Indonesian civilization which is a mixture of
Indonesia’’s cultures and diversity. This has resulted in
producing the magnicent and colorful fabric that is a
hallmark of the people of this generous country. We are
certain that the preparations deployed by the House of
Representatives, Government and People of Indonesia
will be the best assistance to our Conference to produce

Indonesian House of Representatives
The House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia or Dewan Perwakilan Rakyat Republik
Indonesia consist of 560 Member of Parliaments elected to serve ve-year terms. The House
formulates and passes legislation at the national level. The House is a people’’s representatives
institution which constitutes as a state institution. As one of state institutions, the House of
Representatives has a parallel relationship with other state institutions.
The House of Representatives also has a very strong position, for it cannot be dissolved by the
President and exercising the function of overseeing the government.
The House of Representatives which was the Central Indonesia National Committee on 29
August 1945, has been seating for more than 65 years.The seating membership of the Legislative
Assembly of the Republic of Indonesia Period 2009-2014 is the result of Legislative Elections on
9 April, 2009. Next election to be held in 2014.
Position and Composition of the People's Consultative Assembly, the House of Representatives,
Regional Representatives Council, and the Provincial Legislative Council, afrmed the House of
Representatives as an institution that has a specic tasks and functions as the representation of
the people.
For 2009-2014 House Membership, there are several complementary organs, namely:

L’’idée de construire les mines de charbon à PT. Pupuk Sriwidjaja, crée
Tanjung Enim a été lanchée par le gouvernement le 24 Décembre 1959,

de la Palestine en tant que membre
permanent de l'UNESCO, le chef de
la délégation indonésienne accueil
l'accomplissement diplomatique
des Palestiniens. «Je suis surpris et
reconnaissant à la fois, que nos frères
en Palestine ont commencé une
nouvelle ère pour se repositionner
dans la communauté internationale.
L'adhésion de la Palestine à l'UNESCO
est une preuve vivante de l'évolution
de la puissance mondiale qui à l'origine
été tenu par l'Occident, mais elle est
donc aujourd’’hui possedée par l'Est.

soutient dans chacune de ses efforts pour obtenir une adhésion ofcielle à
toute organisation internationale, y inclut au sein des Nations Unies. Il s'agit
de la démocratie mondiale pour qui nous avons combattu ". Le chef de la
délégation indonésienne a également commenté sur l’’état stratégique de
l'adhésion de la Palestine à l'UNESCO. «Avec cette adhésion, la Palestine est
admissible à un certain nombre de ses sites historiques comme le patrimoine
mondial. Par example, la mosquée Al-Aqsa, pour eviter la destruction faite
encore par l’’Israël.””
Comme le chef de la délégation indonésienne, M. Santoso a également
informé que lors de la 7ème session de la Conférence UPCI, la Chambre
des Représentants de la République de l'Indonésie en tant que président de
l’’UPCI va initier l'établissement d'une commission spécialisée sur la Palestine.
Commission sera suivre et de soutenir la lutte des Palestiniens dans la
réalisation de leur indépendance et leur soutien à la création d'une Palestine
souveraine. "Comme dans un" football total ", la Chambre des Représentants
de la République de l'Indonésie mettra ses plus grands efforts pour soutenir
l’’independence d'État de la Palestine avec ses frontières determinés avant
1967 et soutenir la determination d'Al-Qods Al-Charif comme le capitale."

L’ENTRETIEN
Ce grand pays frère, L’’Indonésie, nous a accueilli
avec la plus grande générosité dès l’’instant où nous
avons foulé son sol. Nous y avons décelé tous les
signes de la plus chaleureuse hospitalité. Nous
avons rencontré à Palembang, où se tiennent les
assises de notre conférence, le meilleur accueil
et une parfaite organisation de l’’évènement.
Nous avons été particulièrement touchés par
la grande amabilité du peuple indonésien qui
témoigne d’’une civilisation unique, caractérisée
par sa richesse et sa diversité, expression d’’une
mosaïque amboyante de cultures qui sont
la marque de cette nation hospitalière. Nous
sommes convaincus que les grands efforts
déployés par le Parlement, le gouvernement et
le peuple indonésiens sont la meilleure garantie

La Chambre de Représentants de la Republique de l'Indonésie
La Chambre des Représentants de la République de l'Indonésie ou Dewan Perwakilan Rakyat
Republik Indonesia DPR-RI) se compose de 560 membres de parlements élus pour la période
de cinq ans. La Chambre fait la formulation des législations et les propose au niveau national. La
Chambre est une institution représantant le peuple qui constitue comme une institution d'Etat.
Comme l'une des institutions de l'État, la Chambre des représentants a une relation parallèle
avec d'autres institutions étatiques.
La Chambre des Représentants a également une position très forte, car elle ne peut être dissous
par le président et exerce la fonction de contrôle du gouvernement.
La Chambre des Représentants était formée le 29 Août 1945 et nommée Le Centre du Comité
National, et a été servie le peuple pour plus de 65 ans. Au présent, les membres de l’’Assemblée
Legislative de la Republique de l’’Indonésie pour la periode de 2009-2014 sont élus par le résultat
des élections législatives du 9 Avril 2009. La prochaine élection se tiendra en 2014.
L’’Assemblée Consultative de Peuple (MPR), la Chambre des Représentant, le Conseil Régional
des Représentant, et le Conseil Legislative Provincial afrment que la Chambre des Représentant
est une institution qui a une des tâches et fonctions spéciques comme la représentation du
peuple.

16. A Culinary Port of Call
The wide Musi River in the southern part of Sumatra has for centuries been the thoroughfare
of important trade missions sailing toward Palembang in Chinese and Middle Eastern trading
ships, passing through the calm waters to the center of some great and mighty emporium like
Sriwijaya, existing from the third to the 15th centuries.
Although many changes have taken place in the area throughout the years, one thing remains:
the locals of Palembang are lovers of good food and overtones of foreign foods are no ob-
stacles to recreating them into their own specic Palembang way. That is one of the reasons
why discerning food lovers consider Palembang a gourmet’’s port of call.
Palembang inhabitants are proud of their ability to cook and serve dishes that are palatable
even for those tasting it for the rst time. One of the best-known of Palembang’’s dishes, with
that famous sweet and sour avor, is pempek Palembang, which resembles a more chewy
otak-otak with a north Chinese overtone and is enjoyed with cuko (vinegar), Palembang’’s
version of vinegar sauce.
