A few numbers:
•  Belgian wind installed capacity of 1376 MW (end 2012),
spread over Wallonia (576 MW), Flanders (420 MW) and
the Federal Maritime Territory (380 MW)…can cover the
the electrical consumption of more than 800,000 homes.
•  In 2012 : 300 MW installed in Belgium and 34 MW
installed in Wallonia (seed chart next slide)
•  For 2020 :
o  Wallonia : 4500 GWh (about 2000 MW target) + Off-Shore
o  New regime in progress (tenders of new zones with criteria as

The Microniser atomizer, manufactured in Wallonia by the Vangeel
Electrical company, offers a ENERGY-EFFICIENT solution to the
problem of humidification in air processing units.
This rotary atomizer (which comprises a high-speed rotary cylindrical
cage) disperses the water in very fine droplets measuring
roughly 20 microns in diameter by means of centrifugal force.
Unlike many other fine spray systems, the Microniser operates
without compressed air or pressurized water and is resistant to
blockage. With the Microniser atomizer, it is at last possible to
achieve: Optimization of the water supply in the air according to
needs and environment to be conditioned.

A first: the smart grid in practice, Volt-AIR Project
•  Installation of a mini smart grid (a “micro grid”) at their site in Huizingen. This grid, which
is fed by almost 10,000 m2 of solar panels, will enable ten electric cars to charge up their
batteries via ten charging poles in Anderlecht and Huizingen. If the demand for energy
rises, the vehicles feed energy back into the micro grid. The cars are used by Siemens
employees for business journeys.
•  Two e-cars are also involved in a joint project between Siemens and SNCB Holding: this
is a unique trial in which the partners plan to examine the impact of electric cars on
individual mobility. Train stations in Ghent, Liège and Brussels are to be equipped with
Siemens charging poles and employees can use the electric cars in combination with the
train for travel between home and work.
