The Diary of a Young
Girl
“Who has inflicted this upon us? Who has made us Jews different
from all other people? Who has allowed us to suffer so terribly up
till now?”
-Anne Frank, Tuesday, 11th April, 1944
About the Author

Anne Frank is a German born Jewish girl. Who suffered the
Hitler’s rule. Her diary has been the basis for several plays and
films. Born in the city of Frankfurt am Main in Weimar
Germany, she lived most of her life in or near Amsterdam, in the
Netherlands. Born a German national, Frank lost her citizenship in
1941. She gained international fame posthumously after her diary
was published. It documents her experiences hiding during the
German occupation of the Netherlands in World War II.
The Frank family moved from Germany to Amsterdam in 1933, the
year the Nazis gained control over Germany.
By the beginning of 1940, they were trapped in Amsterdam by the
Nazi occupation of the Netherlands. As persecutions of the Jewish
population increased in July 1942, the family went into hiding in
some concealed rooms in the building where Anne's father worked.
After two years, the group was betrayed and transported to
concentration camps. Anne Frank and her sister, Margot, were
eventually transferred to the Bergen-Belsen concentration
camp, where they died of typhus in March 1945.
Summary Anne Frank
During the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands,
received a diary as one of her presents on her 13th birthday. She
began to write in it on June 14, 1942, two days later, and twenty
two days before going into hiding with her father Otto, mother
Edith, older sister Margot, and another family, Hermann van
Pels, his wife Auguste, and their teenage son Peter. The group
went into hiding in the sealed-off upper rooms of the annex of her
father's office building in Amsterdam. The rooms were concealed
behind a hidden door. Mrs. van Pels' dentist, Fritz Pfeffer, joined
them four months later.
In the published version, names were changed: the van Pels are
known as the Van Daans and Fritz Pfeffer as Mr. Dussel. With
the assistance of a group of Otto Frank's trusted colleagues, they
remained hidden for two years and one month.
They were betrayed in August 1944, which resulted in their
deportation to Nazi concentration camps. Of the group of eight, only
Otto Frank survived the war. Anne died in Bergen-Belsen from
typhus in early March, about two weeks before the prisoners were
liberated by British troops in April 1945
Review

Anne Frank’s “The Diary of a Young Girl” is a very inspirational
and heart touching journal that should be read by
everyone, especially students. Not only that will many relate to
it, but it’s valuable for both the mind and the heart. the story
reveals the history of World War II, unforgettable people, and
lessons that will stay in your heart forever. While reading Anne
Frank, I learned lots about what really happened during World
War II.
It was an unimaginable horror, millions of innocent people dying at
the hands of biased obsession.
Reading this book will take you back to 1944 Hitler’s rule where
you experience gun shots that passed by you, tank, bombs, whispers,
loneliness, deaths.
Each character clearly has its own personality, soft and hard,
anger and self control, hatred and love. These weren't made-up
characters, they once walked this earth.
No one can read The Diary of a Young girl and not take away a
very valuable lesson. Focusing on the problems of growing up,
dealing with tough times, and the never-ending power of hope, these
concepts really strengthened my morals and virtues.
Throughout the book, young people will be able to relate to Anne's
quarrels with her sister and parents, and everyone understands how
hard it is to face your biggest fears.
This book has great historical value and I believe that this diary is
Anne’s gift to human race and the world, the very world which
tore her life apart and couldn’t give her a fair chance at her own
life.
I would suggest everyone to read this book. It has got many positive
values, old culture and lots of lifestyle. It also tells us how people
lived during the Hitler’s age.
