Simple Past
We use Simple Past to talk about an action
  completed in the past at a definite time.

            He
          received
           a letter.
They watch television every evening.
                               (present simple)




They watched television yesterday evening.
                               (past simple)

The past simple is often   - ed (regular verbs)

We use DID as the helping verb in negative
sentences and questions.

The negative is formed with did +
        not and the infinitive:

For QUESTIONS we use:

      Did + subject + verb ?
                   OR
 Wh- + did + subject + verb?
Examples:

The interrogative is formed with did +
              infinitive:
         Yes/No Questions

SPELLING:
1. Regular verbs ending in     - e we add - d.

2. If the verb ends in a   -y we drop off the -y
and add   -ied.
