be additionally required to submit evidence of English proficiency;
minimum scores are 100 on the
internet-based TOEFL, 600 on the paper based TOEFL or
7.0 on the IELTS.

Applicants will open an online application at our Division of Graduate Studies.
You will apply for the College of Public Health - MPH – Health Policy and
Management – Online MPH
The APPLICATION PORTAL –
Choose Online Graduate – Public Health
This portal can be used to add materials for up to one year and is also where an
applicant can login to check the status of their application

International Admissions
Approximately 2,000 international students from nearly 100
countries are currently enrolled at KSU. As you engage in our
international student admissions process, you will see why so
many students choose to come to our school. We make sure you
feel welcome and comfortable every step of the way, and if you
have any questions, you have all the resources you need to find
the answers.
International applicant materials will first be reviewed by Kent
State University International Admissions to determine
applicant eligibility. Eligible applicants who have submitted
complete applications will then be reviewed by the College of
Public Health faculty, who authorize admission decisions.
International students should become familiar with policies of
their countries of origin regulating online credit hour limits.
Kent State University International Admissions can assist with
this.
Application - Letters of Reference
• Three recommendations
– preferably from faculty or employers
who can comment on your aptitude to
succeed in graduate school. Have them
submit a confidential recommendation
in one of two approved forms:
1. Regular narrative letter
2. The Graduate Students Letter of
Recommendation (a standardized rating
form)
Application - Transcripts
• Earned Bachelor’s degree
– From regionally accredited institution –
– Original, official transcripts from any
institution where you earned 9 or more
hours are required
– Kent State University graduates generally
do not need to request a transcript.
• 3.0 GPA minimum
• No specific field of study required
Application - Statement of Purpose
This should be a one-page essay detailing
• Your background as it relates to your
decision to study Public Health at Kent
State University
• How the MPH will help you
accomplish your career goals
• Providing a resume is optional, but is
not a substitute for the statement of
purpose
Application - GRE and other
acceptable standardized measures
• Acceptable GRE scores (or other approved standardized tests:
MCAT, LSAT, DAT, PCAT OR MAT). Scores older than five
years are not acceptable and require retaking the GRE.

• It usually takes 4-6 weeks after your test date before we receive your GRE scores
• English proficiency requirements are detailed at the

Application Timeline
Rolling admissions - we review applications and make
admissions decisions as they come in.
Suggested/‘soft’ deadlines
• Fall Semester – July 1
• Spring Semester - November 15
• Summer Semester – April 15
Suggested timeline for applying:
• Register for GRE test date and site
• Prepare for GRE (6 months before applying – it takes us 4-6 weeks to receive your scores)
• Obtain Letters of Reference (last semester of undergrad or 3 months before applying)
• Write Personal Statement (last semester of undergrad or 3 months before applying)
• Complete undergraduate degree and APPLY!
Admission Decision
• Your application with remain with our Graduate
Admissions office until all required materials are
received
You can check the status of your application at
Division of Graduate Studies.
Be sure to check your email for regular updates.
• Once all materials are received, Graduate
Admissions sends the completed application to the
College of Public Health
• Usually within 2 weeks the applicant will receive
an admission decision via email and then in a letter
postal mail to their permanent address.

MPH Degree Requirements
• Complete a minimum of 46 credit hours
– Public Health Core Requirements (25 credit hours)
– Area of Specialization and Elective Courses (15 credit hours)
• Demonstrate Public Health Knowledge and Competence
– Practicum/Culminating Experience (6 credit hours, min. 300 contact
hours)
– Comprehensive Exam – written test of public health core concepts

  • 8. International Admissions Approximately 2,000 international students from nearly 100 countries are currently enrolled at KSU. As you engage in our international student admissions process, you will see why so many students choose to come to our school. We make sure you feel welcome and comfortable every step of the way, and if you have any questions, you have all the resources you need to find the answers. International applicant materials will first be reviewed by Kent State University International Admissions to determine applicant eligibility. Eligible applicants who have submitted complete applications will then be reviewed by the College of Public Health faculty, who authorize admission decisions. International students should become familiar with policies of their countries of origin regulating online credit hour limits. Kent State University International Admissions can assist with this.
  • 9. Application - Letters of Reference • Three recommendations – preferably from faculty or employers who can comment on your aptitude to succeed in graduate school. Have them submit a confidential recommendation in one of two approved forms: 1. Regular narrative letter 2. The Graduate Students Letter of Recommendation (a standardized rating form)

Application - Transcripts • Earned Bachelor’s degree – From regionally accredited institution – – Original, official transcripts from any institution where you earned 9 or more hours are required – Kent State University graduates generally do not need to request a transcript. • 3.0 GPA minimum • No specific field of study required

Application - Statement of Purpose This should be a one-page essay detailing • Your background as it relates to your decision to study Public Health at Kent State University • How the MPH will help you accomplish your career goals • Providing a resume is optional, but is not a substitute for the statement of purpose
  • 12. Application - GRE and other acceptable standardized measures • Acceptable GRE scores (or other approved standardized tests: MCAT, LSAT, DAT, PCAT OR MAT).   • 13. Application Timeline Rolling admissions - we review applications and make admissions decisions as they come in. Suggested/‘soft’ deadlines • Fall Semester – July 1 • Spring Semester - November 15 • Summer Semester – April 15 Suggested timeline for applying: • Register for GRE test date and site • Prepare for GRE (6 months before applying – it takes us 4-6 weeks to receive your scores) • Obtain Letters of Reference (last semester of undergrad or 3 months before applying) • Write Personal Statement (last semester of undergrad or 3 months before applying) • Complete undergraduate degree and APPLY!

Admission Decision • Your application with remain with our Graduate Admissions office until all required materials are received You can check the status of your application at Division of Graduate Studies. Be sure to check your email for regular updates. • Once all materials are received, Graduate Admissions sends the completed application to the College of Public Health • Usually within 2 weeks the applicant will receive an admission decision via email and then in a letter postal mail to their permanent address.
