CRAIG The CJE has gone through an extensive transition process with stakeholders in the community. We are moving from a central authority on Jewish education to becoming an educational capacity building arm of the Federation. This is the CJE focus for the next 3 yearsThat’s our proposal. Ed will make the CCBC presentation and speak to the 5Cs.
CRAIG
Today – about half our Jewish children participate in some form of Jewish education. About half don’t.

ED3 year target; review as we go alongWe should aim towards adding more than 250 students we can include low income and middle class families as wellThe way to address the school deficits issues is generate 150 more day school full pay students to generate the additional revenues needed.Average elementary tuition is $13k per yearCurrently 75% full pay; 25% on subsidy Supp schools participation rate 13% - we want to go to 25%The issue for day schools: Right now the fundamental issue is to become stable and sustaining. Federation can’t do it alone; we already put in a lot of community resources. Currently an extra $1.75 to $2 million a year would stabilize the deficits of the schools who have them. Our solution is to help the system operate at capacity and get more childreninto the schools This way there will be more revenue. Our strategy is to work with the sector to search out the niche markets where we think this can be done.
