1. The first magnetic pick-up was invented 1924 by Lloyd a Gibson Employee
The first all real electric guitar were made in 1931 by the electric string company. Designed by others
such as Adolf Rickenbacker. They were made of aluminum and played across the knees with a slide.
By 1932 the company Ro-Pat-In produced a line of electrically amplified instruments using the electric
magnetic pickups that is used today and were sold this year as well.
In 1933 the company changed its name to Electro Instrument Company and again changed its name to
Rickenbacker Electro Instrument Company in 1934. Today the company is still manufacturing electric
guitars today under the name Rickenbacker International. The instruments that the Beatles use are from
this company.
The first electric acoustic guitar was the EL150 in 1936
The first solid body electric guitar, recognized today, were made by Gibson employees, Merle Travis and
Paul Bigsby in the 1940’s.
Harland Barnard Bodkin, invented the first solid electric guitar that was based with the magnetic field
pick-up in 19 June 1941
In the 1950’s , Leo Fender made the first mass produced electric guitars which was the Ubiquitous
Telecaster being the first which was followed by Gibson Les Paul rapidly.
