were captured.
- Alexander‟s troops saw people who they
mistakenly thought were fleeing refugees.
- The pass narrows as it goes along.
- Ariobarzanes ambushes the lead of
Alexander‟s column forcing a retreat.
- Alexander‟s dead are left on the battlefield.
- Implausible tale resembling Ephilates at battle
of Thermopylae.
12. Ariobarzanes survives the battle and flees to
Persepolis.
He is turned away by the commander of the city who
already knew the outcome of the Battle of the Persian Gate
and was convinced Alexander was invincible.
Alexander takes Persepolis after defeating a remnant of
the Persian Army left from Guagamela.
