Ted Bundy Life
The mindset of criminals who commit horrendous crimes and show little to no remorse for their
actions is something that has been studied for decades. Serial killers are a different type of criminal
and their killing spree can last years. The serial killer I will be discussing is a Ted Bundy. Ted Bundy
was a serial killer who had been linked to at least 36 murders. In the 1970's Ted had raped and
murdered women in several states.

A Brief Biography of Ted Bundy
Terror shocked the United States during the 1970s. More and more women students suddenly
vanished. During a search for the serial killer, investigators could not seem to find a link to the
person doing all these terrible acts. The similarities of the victims showed that someone smart was
behind these events. However, when he was caught, America learned that not every serial killer fits
a certain profile. Ted Bundy, a man known to many as very smart and interesting, spread his terror
throughout the United States by targeting and murdering young women; using the process
perspective, it was determined that his confusing and horrible upbringing as a youth influenced his
future behavior as a mass murderer. He became one of America's most ... Show more content on

He once didn't know what made people want to be friends with him. He would look at his family
situations and the way they handled things and thought maybe aggression was a way to solve
problems. Lifestyle theory could also play a part in teds adventure as a serial killer because he didn't
really have a functional relationship with his family members besides his grandparents. He couldn't
really be with them the way he wanted to due to constant moving around. Although people liked Ted
and didn't see anything out of the norm with him he was actually never really normal mentally due
to the lifestyle and upbringing he had.
Ted Bundy is classified as a serial killer. Over a span of three years, Bundy took the lives of a
countless number of people; a number that Bundy has taken to his grave. Various Bundy experts
believe he may have started his killings in his early teenage life. While he was a teen a twelve–year–

According to the text the rational choice theory is the view that crime is a function of a decision–
making process in which the potential offender weighs the potential costs and benefits of an illegal
act. Evaluating Ted Bundy according to the rational choice theory, he knew what he was doing
weighed his options, picked how he would attack kill and rape his victims. He meticulously sought
out his victims. Typically Bundy would bludgeon his victims, strangle them to death then rape them
or engage in necrophilia. According to this theory he fully planned out each attack knowing that it
was wrong, illegal, and immoral.
There are multiple forms of the capital punishment depending upon which state you live in. In
Tennessee if sentenced to the death penalty you would face either lethal injection or electrocution
(deathpenaltyinfo.org). My stance on the death penalty is a pro view. I believe that if you commit a
crime so heinous, such as murder, and it is proved beyond a reasonable doubt you should in fact be
sentenced to death. There is no reason to put murders back on the streets. I don't think that a person
that kills someone in self defense should be

The Murder Of Ted Bundy
There have been many serial killers all over the world known for murdering innocent people but
there is one in particular who made an impact in society, Ted Bundy. This man known for his good
looks and charm with young women is what helped him to murder all these woman's and have gone
away with it for a several time. This happened during the 1970's, Ted Bundy did not live an ordinary
life and this is probable reason as to why he led a life of murderous crimes with women. Ted Bundy
was born November 24, 1946 he did not have a normal life he was raised by his grandparents and
with him believing those were his actual parents and that his mother was his older sister. The Bundy
family isolated him which he never got that family relationship yet he was very smart at school and
popular. Also another thing that impacted life was a girl that went to the University of Washington
who he fell madly in love with, Stephanie Brooks, who did not so much feel the same and broke it
off. Due to his emotional devastation it is said that this is another reason to why he killed the victims
he did, the people he selected had some of the same physical similarities to Stephanie Brooks.
During that time he found the truth about his actual parents and that led to a huge psychological
shock but he kept on his studies and majored in psychology. He then married Meg Anders and had a
young daughter and 5 years after they got divorced. Then later out through time he met Stephanie
Brooks again and they

Serial killers have been a topic of interest for decades. One of the most well known serial killers in
America is Ted Bundy. He is known for the horrific nature and extent of his murders. Over the span
of about four years he committed over two dozen confirmed murders, and possibly many more
unconfirmed murders. He is perhaps the most well known serial killer in the history of America. Ted
Bundy had an interesting early life, a specific agenda when it came to his victims, many tactics to
lure victims, he escaped prison twice, was sentenced to death by electric chair, and he left behind a
legacy long after he died.

That was not all he did to try and delay his inevitable death. He also offered insight on unsolved
murders that he had committed and even tried to take his trial to the Supreme Court in order to stall

he finally had to pay for his horrendous crimes. On the morning of January 24, 1989 he was killed
by an infamous electric chair at the Florida State Prison ("Ted Bundy Biography"). This caused
happiness to sweep across the nation. Many citizens were happy about the outcome of his trial. In
fact, outside of the prison there were crowds of people cheering and setting off fireworks during the

His first murder was a girl named, Anne Marie Burr. She was eight years old at the time of her
death. It was Bundy's first murder and he was only fifteen at the time. Another one of Ted's cruel
assaults was one of a young girl named Joni Lenz. She fell asleep in her basement because she
shared the room with other college students. The next day she didn't appear, so her housemates went
to go check on her. They found her lying on her bed with dry blood all over her face. They found out
she had been beat with a metal rod. When her housemates pulled the cover off of her they found the
metal rod had brutally been shoved into her vagina. She survived the attack but she suffered external
organ damage and brain damage. Bundy admitted to killing thirty–seven young women, but experts
believe he could have killed more than one–hundred people. Ted killed them throughout five states,

year 1972. Bundy said he first murder was like a "horrible dream." Bundys last known victim went
by the name Ann Leach. She was believed to be killed on February 9, 1978 in Salt Lake City,
Florida. Some people believe that his first victim may have been an eight year old girl from Tacoma.
If that was true he would have been fourteen at the age of his first murder, but that statement was not
proven true. The majority of his victims were young women who looked like a girl that had ended a
long–term relationship with him. Bundy said that when he committed these horrific murders, it felt
like being possessed by something awful and alien. Ted Bundy blamed nothing but himself and
pornography for his murders. Ted Bundy killed women in Colorado, Utah, Oregon, Florida, And

Bundy was raised to believe that his grandparents were his birth parents and his mother was his

Ted Bundy was a serial murderer, rapist and necrophiliac and he has been known as one of the most
notorious criminals of the late 20th century. As a murderer and a rapist, he admitted to 36 killings of
young women across several states in the 1970s and he raped more than 100 women (Biography

total extent of his devastation (Truesdell 2016)." Ted Bundy was born in Burlington, Vermont and he
was raised as the adopted son of his grandparents and was told that his mom was his sister in order
to hide the fact that he was an illegitimate child. Then, Ted moved to Tacoma, Washington. Because
he felt uncomfortable around his wealthier classmates at original college so he transferred to the
University of Washington to escape this feeling. When he was in University of Washington, he
studied hard and devoted to activities of clubs. However, it did not reflect that he was social or he
could communicate with others well. Instead, he was trying to restrain the evil part of himself since
he showed an unusual interest in the macabre at an early age. Around the age of three, knives
fascinated him a lot and then a darker side of his character started to emerge when he became a

In today's world, murderers aren't a surprising thing, as long as they are fictional. Plenty of TV
shows and movies have plot lines around murder, but what about real life? As Scott Bonn states in
his writing, of the approximate 15,000 murders in the United States, only 1 percent are serial
killings, amounting to about 150 victims per year, with between 25 and 50 serial killers active at any
given time. There are plenty of statistics on serial killers. 1 in 20 had the same three characteristics
as a child: bedwetting, fire setting, and torturing animals. Animal torture is a common indicator that
the child will be violent in the future. Also, over 30 percent of murderers use killing as a way for
their sexual arousal (Stone). A murderer ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He consistently fought for his life against the courts, giving confessions in an attempt to receive less
of a penalty, or at least delay his death. He confessed to 8 killings in Washington that had taken
place in 1974("Bundy Details..."), and indicated that he had killed anywhere from 40 to 50
women(Tilstone). Although the actual number of his victims is unknown, it is believed that Ted
Bundy could have killed up to 100 women, 36 of which he admitted to(Biography.com). In the book
Serial Murder, by Ronald M. Holmes, it is stated that Ted was questioned about whether he had

a number of things, like which digit do we have to add, and where? Did he murder 136 women?

there were three major investigators surrounding the killings of Ted Bundy. Bob Keppel of the King

Michael Fisher of the Glenwood Springs District Attorney's Office in Colorado. Fisher and

The main purpose of this defense essay is to understand what drove Theodore Robert Bundy to
commit the crimes he is accused of. After reading and listening to interviews with Ted Bundy and
reading expert opinion, it is my conclusion Bundy knew his actions were wrong but the impulse
overrode reasoning. The defense, the M'Naghten Rule – irresistible impulse defense would fit the
Bundy crimes of murder and rape of young women. The craving and increasing desire to live out the
murder and rape fantasy would be a daily thought for many years that started as an impressionable

With Ted feeling excluded in his family life, he would find comfort retreating to his fantasy world.
Ted was a preteen when learning of his illegitimacy from a cousin (Carlise). This information has a
significant impact in his life and self–worth. He blamed his mother for the deceit, but didn't want to
confront her about it. In an interview describing the discovery, he says "I didn't allow myself to
think about it. Like other things I didn't want to face, I turned to my hero fantasies and to
masturbation" (Carlise). Al Carlise Ph.D. wrote how fantasy and dissociation is linked, "When a
person is totally absorbed in a fantasy, he dissociates everything around him. Anger and emptiness
become the energy and motivating forces behind the fantasy. While in the fantasy the person
experiences a sense of excitement and relief. However, when it is over there is still a feeling of
emptiness because the fantasy has whetted an appetite for the real thing, which he anticipates will be
even more enjoyable than the fantasy." There's a strong force to shift back and forth from reality and
fantasy. Ted wasn't aware creating an alternate fantasy personality he was "creating neural circuits in
his brain which could become permanent mental representatives of this personality" (Carlise).

Ted Bundy worked at a hotline company for suicidal women with his friend Ann Rule. When Ann
heard a description of a man who committed 36 murders targeted at women she instantly thought of
her friend Ted but couldn't come to terms of it being him as he did a job that saves lives and was a

Ted Bundy : A Serial Killer
Ted Bundy is one of the most famous serial killers in United States History. There are many theories
behind what made him become a serial killer. Many believe he was born that way, with a darkness
inside of him to which he could not control. Others believe he is a victim of circumstance and had
no chance from the very beginning of life. Ted killed fourteen plus women and girls, his earliest
victim thought to be when he was just fifteen years old, with only one known survivor. I believe Ted
made the choices he did, not because of his family circumstances or his dark passenger, but because
he felt entitled and liked control. What more control is there then to decide who lives and who dies?
I do believe there are circumstances that may have been the perfect storm to bring Ted to his killing
path and in this paper I will discuss how I feel Ted came to be what he was. Theodore Robert
Crowell, also known as Ted Bundy, was born on November 24, 1946 in Burlington, Vermont.
Eleanor Cowell, Ted's mother, was twenty–two years old and unmarried when she had him. Ted's
father left Eleanor before Ted was born and there is no concrete proof on who Ted's father really
was. Eleanor being an unmarried mother was very upsetting to her parents, as they were very
religious and did not believe in unmarried pregnancies so Eleanor delivered Ted at a home for
unwed mothers in Vermont, later bringing Ted to her parents' home in Philadelphia. To hide Ted
being an illegitimate child, he was

Since Bundy, like the majority of serial murderers and other criminals, were introduced to some sort
of violence at an impressionable age, many argued that this was the reason people came to be
criminals. Across the nation, many began to express their opinions on violence being so out in the
open for any young, impressionable child to see. If violence in a book could create somebody like
Ted Bundy, who had over 30 victims, then what could television spread to children? Although some
still argued that the violence Ted Bundy was exposed to was clearly not the reason he became a
serial murderer, the majority of people needed something to blame for creating criminals. To most,
the idea that a criminal is born and not created was hard to understand because in most situations,
there is something or someone to put the blame on. Ted Bundy kidnapped and brutally murdered
over 30 young women and he was blamed for their deaths, but what could be blamed for the reason
he did it? Bundy's family seemed wholesome, extremely religious, and level–headed so they could
not be blamed for Ted becoming who he was. This is why people found comfort in creating an
argument against violence; they needed something to blame. Even in this day and age, nearly 30
years after Bundy's death, people are still arguing about the violence that young children have access

chilling fact about him was that he would train to be strong to kill . "Bundy treated murder like a
sport, he would actually engage in a catch and release type of training during his "off season" ( "Ted
Bundy Biography",2018). Ted on his last attacks left two girls alive, they had to testify against this
monster. "During pretrial maneuvering they had to face bundy" (Living Victims,2018). The reason
Ted Bundy went under suspicion was the DNA match on his victims from the bite marks that he had
left on them. He at one point disabled a women's car in order to make her become vulnerable to him
making this a satisfaction to his sexual fantasies. His success in his crimes lies greatly on the
meticulous planning and concrete preparation of each attack. It is said that he may have killed as

Serial killers are one of the biggest mysteries to the rest of humanity. The way they think and act is
terrifying but also fascinating because other people don't think in the same way. So when we see
someone so sadistic and emotionally detached we want to know more about them. We want to know
what their childhood was like, if something happened in the early development of their lives or if
they were just wired that way from birth. Two of the most popular serial killers are Ted Bundy and
Jeffrey Dahmer. They both started killing people in their young adulthood, progressively becoming
more and more addicted to the thrill it gave them leading up to their arrests later in life. However,
they had very different home lives and experiences that lead to their fates. Childhood and
adolescence tend to play a huge role in the way people turn out as adults, so it's one of the first
things people look back at when someone turns out to be any kind of killer. Jeffrey Dahmer is said
to have had a pretty normal childhood though, according to his father, he had an unusual interest in
the bodies of dead animals and didn't show the same kinds of emotions as other children ("All About
Jeffrey Dahmer", 2011). As he developed into adolescence his fascination with dead animals only
became more disturbing as he started examining and dissecting the carcasses. He withdrew himself
from society and turning to heavy alcoholism. His drinking problem stayed with him throughout his
high school career

Criminal Psychology
Theodore Robert Cowell, aka "Ted Bundy" is one of the most well known serial killers in United
States history. His reign of terror went on from 1974– 1978 when he was arrested and charged with
numerous crimes. These crimes include first degree murder, kidnapping, rape, sodomy, unlawful sex
with corpses, resisting arrest, and the list goes on from there. It was said that he had over 300
victims, but he would confess to only 30 of the homicides that he committed. Bundy was eventually
executed in 1989. Before his death, Ann Rule wrote a biography on him, and described Bundy as "a
sadistic sociopath who took pleasure from another human's pain and the control he had over his
victims, to the point of death, and even after" (Rule, 1989). Bundy described himself as the most
cold–hearted son of a b**** you'll ever meet, and his lawyer stated "Ted was the very definition of
heartless evil" (XXXXXXX). Bundy was born to Louise Cowell in the Elizabeth Lund Home for
Unwed Mothers in Vermont. He never knew his biological father, nor had any dealings with him.
When Ted and his mother were released from the hospital, she decided to move back home and
reside with her parents. Bundy's grandparents took over much of his care, and became his parental
figures, while his mother took a more sisterly role to him. This was done to protect him from being
considered odd, or becoming a social outcast

Characteristics Of Ted Bundy
People are all different, that should not come as a surprise for anyone. Our individual DNA sets us
apart from everyone else and makes us who we are. But at the same time we are all the same; we are
all human, our social, physical and emotional needs are basically the same as the next persons. But
in some occasions something makes a one human being so different it makes that person do things
an average person could not fathom why or for what. Serial killers are set apart from 'normal' people
by their cruelty and lack of emotional stability. This unstability in them comes from lack of stibilityu

Serial Killer : Ted Bundy
In the late sixties and seventies, a feared serial killer, Ted Bundy, disseminated terror throughout the
United States. He was connected to at least thirty–six murders, although some believed he had
committed more than one hundred murders. Bundy confessed to killing thirty women in seven states
before his execution by electric chair on January 24, 1989. Ted Bundy appeared as a successful and
an attractive gentleman, who seemed to have a lot going for him. Nevertheless, ingrained was the
heart of a serial killer! Ted Bundy was a psychopath; proving that the lines between sanity and
insanity are thin; however, in the case of Bundy, it was on the edge of non–existence. Ann Rule
describes Ted Bundy as a clean–cut kid with predatory cravings that characterize the most primitive
vision of social Darwinism; supporting a practice that hoards his fortunes in human trophies. He is
the compelling extreme of a system of accumulation. Without fate and God; within a very flimsy
world tied together by a fragile web of coincidences; when having the sense that survival of the
fittest is all that he had left. As a chronic sexual predator, Bundy crossed a line in which he could
never step back to the other side, and he didn't want to. Bundy considered himself to be an amateur
and impulsive killer in his early years, and then moved into what he considered to be "The Ultimate
Predator!" Ted Bundy appeared to grow up in healthy household, with supportive family members;

The Serial Killers : Ted Bundy
Ted Bundy, also known as the campus killer, is one of the United States top known serial killers.
This twisted man assaulted and murdered many young girls during the 1970s. Bundy captured his
victims by his charismatic and handsome and would win their trust by traits he had. He would act
injured or as an authority figure before he murdered and assaulted his victims. After the girls died,
Bundy would visit the bodies' hours later and do sexual things to the corpse until animals would
finish the girl completely. Twelve of his victims he beheaded and kept the heads in his freezers in his
apartment as mementos. This sick guy never received help and he died in an electric chair since he
killed so many young, innocent girls. November 24, 1946, Theodore Robert Cowell, later known as
Ted Bundy, was born in the Elizabeth Lund Home for Unwed Mothers in Burlington, Vermont.
Growing up Ted lived with his grandparents, Samuel and Eleanor Cowell, who told Ted that they
were his parents and his mother was his sister. His real mother went by Louise, but his father is
unknown. But his grandparents lied to Ted to prevent social sigma since having a child out of
wedlock was deeply frowned upon. Bundy found his birth certificate himself in 1969 and had a
lifelong resentment for his mother lying and not telling him. His grandfather was an insane man and
his grandmother was very depressed, so his real mother took him with her to Tacoma, Washington.

Ted Bundy was born as Theodore Robert Cowell on November 24, 1946 in Burlington, Vermont. He
was the son of Louise Cowell, who gave birth to Ted at a home for unwed mothers because she had

Philadelphia to be raised by her parents. To hide their daughter's illegitimate son, Ted was raised to

birth, Louise moved to Washington and later met Johnnie Bundy. Nobody knows exactly how Ted
discovered his legitimacy, but when he discovered who he was, he was devastated and harbored
resentment towards his mother. Louise later married Johnnie Bundy and had several more children.
Ted then carried his last name. Despite admiring his grandfather, Ted's family had many issues.
Ted's grandmother suffered from severe depression and evidently became mentally unstable.

The Legacy Of Ted Bundy
Theodore Robert Cowell, more notoriously known as Ted Bundy, was born in Burlington, Vermont
on November 24, 1946. Bundy was raised by his grandparents for the first three years of his life in
order to avoid public disgrace from their community due to the fact that Bundy's mother had him out
of wedlock. As a young boy, Bundy was under the notion, along with the community around him,
that his grandparents were his parents and his mother was his older sister. At the age of four, his
mother left with Bundy to live in Philadelphia and there met her new husband, Johnny Bundy.
Together, they resulted in conceiving four children and despite the fact that Johnny Bundy had
adopted him; he continued to stay secluded from the rest of the family. His childhood overall is
controversial; in interviews, Bundy described his grandparents as respectful and was very attached
to his grandfather. Later on, it was revealed to attorneys by other family members and himself that
Bundy's grandfather, Samuel Cowell, was a domineering and prejudice person. Different reports
from beating his wife and the family dog to pushing Bundy's aunt down a flight of stairs were
claimed to have happened. His grandmother however, was described by Bundy as being humble and
loyal who went through therapy for depression. Bundy started exhibiting his abnormal behavior at a

Murder is the most vindictive crime society can commit. As individuals in society, the belief of
being born a murderer is false. No one is born a murderer; society gives birth to that murderer. In
Ted Bundy's case the lack of parental guidance and constant rejection of women contributed to him
evolving into a vicious serial killer. Bundy was a man who let his fantasies run his life, he believed
that life was a game. All this contributed to making Bundy revengeful, bitter, and not quite mentally

Bundy made good grades and loved to study but his bosses considered him unreliable as he cared
more about studying than being on time to work. Outside of working and studying you could find
Ted with his nose in politics. In 1968 Ted volunteered for the campaign of Art Fletcher, a small town
republican politician who was running for lieutenant governor of Washington. When Fletcher lost

took several classes while attending Temple University, but one that Ted really enjoyed was his
theatre class. "He took several theater classes, learning the basics of acting and discovering that his
facial features were unusually indistinct. With a slightly different hairstyle or a bit of facial hair,
Bundy could dramatically alter his appearance. This would serve him well in his career as a serial
killer." (Pulditor, p.26)

would knock them out with a foreign object or would handcuff them in his car. Once he had the
victims he would proceed in kidnapping, sodomizing, raping, and killing them in a brutal manner. In
Ted Bundy case agencies from different states worked together in the apprehension of Bundy. The
conviction of Ted Bundy was credit towards good criminal investigation; with police cooperation,
forensic evidence and the witnesses' statements. The police cooperation was the first initial process
of the investigation. The murders had started in Seattle, Washington on January 31, 1974. Ted
Bundy was living in Seattle and attending school at the University of Washington at that present
time. The first reported victim was a twenty–one year old by the name of Lynda Ann Healy. She had
been abducted from her apartment and the officers could only find her nightgown that was neatly
hung up in her closest with blood on it and her sheets also had traces of blood. The police conducted
searches but was unable to find Lynda. On March 12, Donna Gail Mason at Evergreen State College
located in Olympia, Washington was last seen leaving her dorm to attend a concert. She was later

  • 3. A Brief Biography of Ted Bundy Terror shocked the United States during the 1970s. More and more women students suddenly vanished. During a search for the serial killer, investigators could not seem to find a link to the person doing all these terrible acts. The similarities of the victims showed that someone smart was behind these events. However, when he was caught, America learned that not every serial killer fits a certain profile. Ted Bundy, a man known to many as very smart and interesting, spread his terror throughout the United States by targeting and murdering young women; using the process perspective, it was determined that his confusing and horrible upbringing as a youth influenced his future behavior as a mass murderer. He became one of America's most ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He once didn't know what made people want to be friends with him. He would look at his family situations and the way they handled things and thought maybe aggression was a way to solve problems. Lifestyle theory could also play a part in teds adventure as a serial killer because he didn't really have a functional relationship with his family members besides his grandparents. He couldn't really be with them the way he wanted to due to constant moving around. Although people liked Ted and didn't see anything out of the norm with him he was actually never really normal mentally due to the lifestyle and upbringing he had. Ted Bundy is classified as a serial killer. Over a span of three years, Bundy took the lives of a countless number of people; a number that Bundy has taken to his grave. Various Bundy experts believe he may have started his killings in his early teenage life. While he was a teen a twelve–year– old neighbor disappeared from her house and it was suspected that Bundy was the cause Tedd first victim was 18–year–old Joni Lenz. No one thought to imagine that behind this entire exterior was a serial killer waiting to surface According to the text the rational choice theory is the view that crime is a function of a decision– making process in which the potential offender weighs the potential costs and benefits of an illegal act. Evaluating Ted Bundy according to the rational choice theory, he knew what he was doing weighed his options, picked how he would attack kill and rape his victims. He meticulously sought out his victims. Typically Bundy would bludgeon his victims, strangle them to death then rape them or engage in necrophilia. According to this theory he fully planned out each attack knowing that it was wrong, illegal, and immoral. There are multiple forms of the capital punishment depending upon which state you live in. In Tennessee if sentenced to the death penalty you would face either lethal injection or electrocution (deathpenaltyinfo.org). My stance on the death penalty is a pro view. I believe that if you commit a crime so heinous, such as murder, and it is proved beyond a reasonable doubt you should in fact be sentenced to death. There is no reason to put murders back on the streets. I don't think that a person that kills someone in self defense should be

  • 8. The Murder Of Ted Bundy There have been many serial killers all over the world known for murdering innocent people but there is one in particular who made an impact in society, Ted Bundy. This man known for his good looks and charm with young women is what helped him to murder all these woman's and have gone away with it for a several time. This happened during the 1970's, Ted Bundy did not live an ordinary life and this is probable reason as to why he led a life of murderous crimes with women. Ted Bundy was born November 24, 1946 he did not have a normal life he was raised by his grandparents and with him believing those were his actual parents and that his mother was his older sister. The Bundy family isolated him which he never got that family relationship yet he was very smart at school and popular. Also another thing that impacted life was a girl that went to the University of Washington who he fell madly in love with, Stephanie Brooks, who did not so much feel the same and broke it off. Due to his emotional devastation it is said that this is another reason to why he killed the victims he did, the people he selected had some of the same physical similarities to Stephanie Brooks. During that time he found the truth about his actual parents and that led to a huge psychological shock but he kept on his studies and majored in psychology. He then married Meg Anders and had a young daughter and 5 years after they got divorced. Then later out through time he met Stephanie Brooks again and they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Distracted by his smile, only the sound of those same books tumbling beside your feet unlock you from the trance. He seems too good to be true, and he is. The man is Ted Bundy, a notorious serial killer. The 28 murders he confesses to may only be the tip of the iceberg. Clearly, Ted Bundy was a threat who harmed many lives. Ted Bundy was born at the Elizabeth Lund Home for Unwed Mothers to Eleanor Louise Cowell. To avoid the social stigma that would accompany such a scandal, Bundy's grandparents claimed him as their own (Murderpedia, n.d.,para. 4). Even Bundy was raised to believe that his grandparents were his birth parents and his mother was his older sister (Biography, n.d., para. 1). Despite this deception, Bundy stated in an interview that he grew up in a wonderful home with two dedicated and loving parents (Fatal Addiction, n.d., para. 4). As a murderer and a rapist, he admitted to 36 killings of young women across several states in the 1970s and he raped more than 100 women (Biography 2017: 1). However, Former FBI Director William S. Sessions claimed: " We may never know the total extent of his devastation (Truesdell 2016)." Ted Bundy was born in Burlington, Vermont and he was raised as the adopted son of his grandparents and was told that his mom was his sister in order to hide the fact that he was an illegitimate child. Then, Ted moved to Tacoma, Washington. Because he felt uncomfortable around his wealthier classmates at original college so he transferred to the University of Washington to escape this feeling. When he was in University of Washington, he studied hard and devoted to activities of clubs. However, it did not reflect that he was social or he could communicate with others well. Instead, he was trying to restrain the evil part of himself since he showed an unusual interest in the macabre at an early age. Around the age of three, knives fascinated him a lot and then a darker side of his character started to emerge when he became a teenager (Biography 2017:2). • 24. Ted Bundy Research Paper In today's world, murderers aren't a surprising thing, as long as they are fictional. Plenty of TV shows and movies have plot lines around murder, but what about real life? As Scott Bonn states in his writing, of the approximate 15,000 murders in the United States, only 1 percent are serial killings, amounting to about 150 victims per year, with between 25 and 50 serial killers active at any given time. There are plenty of statistics on serial killers. 1 in 20 had the same three characteristics as a child: bedwetting, fire setting, and torturing animals. Animal torture is a common indicator that the child will be violent in the future. Also, over 30 percent of murderers use killing as a way for their sexual arousal (Stone). A murderer ... Although the actual number of his victims is unknown, it is believed that Ted Bundy could have killed up to 100 women, 36 of which he admitted to(Biography.com). In the book Serial Murder, by Ronald M. Holmes, it is stated that Ted was questioned about whether he had killed the 36 women, to which he replied "Add one digit to that and you'll have it." This could mean a number of things, like which digit do we have to add, and where? Did he murder 136 women? 361? We might not ever find out. His last minute confessions would help to close up to 23 pending cases of women that were either missing or had been found dead(Lamar). Of all of the open cases, there were three major investigators surrounding the killings of Ted Bundy. Bob Keppel of the King County Police Department in Seattle, Jerry Thompson of the Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office, and Michael Fisher of the Glenwood Springs District Attorney's Office in Colorado. After reading and listening to interviews with Ted Bundy and reading expert opinion, it is my conclusion Bundy knew his actions were wrong but the impulse overrode reasoning. The defense, the M'Naghten Rule – irresistible impulse defense would fit the Bundy crimes of murder and rape of young women. The craving and increasing desire to live out the murder and rape fantasy would be a daily thought for many years that started as an impressionable child. Like other things I didn't want to face, I turned to my hero fantasies and to masturbation" (Carlise). Al Carlise Ph.D. wrote how fantasy and dissociation is linked, "When a person is totally absorbed in a fantasy, he dissociates everything around him. Anger and emptiness become the energy and motivating forces behind the fantasy. While in the fantasy the person experiences a sense of excitement and relief. However, when it is over there is still a feeling of emptiness because the fantasy has whetted an appetite for the real thing, which he anticipates will be even more enjoyable than the fantasy." There's a strong force to shift back and forth from reality and fantasy. Ted wasn't aware creating an alternate fantasy personality he was "creating neural circuits in his brain which could become permanent mental representatives of this personality" (Carlise). Case study 1: Ted Bundy Ted Bundy worked at a hotline company for suicidal women with his friend Ann Rule. When Ann heard a description of a man who committed 36 murders targeted at women she instantly thought of her friend Ted but couldn't come to terms of it being him as he did a job that saves lives and was a good friend to her so couldn't see the bad side of him. However, she contacted them anyway, and investigations around the Ted Bundy allegation were done, as well as tests and evidence came back stating he was the offender. • 36. Ted Bundy : A Serial Killer Ted Bundy is one of the most famous serial killers in United States History. There are many theories behind what made him become a serial killer. Many believe he was born that way, with a darkness inside of him to which he could not control. Others believe he is a victim of circumstance and had no chance from the very beginning of life. Ted killed fourteen plus women and girls, his earliest victim thought to be when he was just fifteen years old, with only one known survivor. I believe Ted made the choices he did, not because of his family circumstances or his dark passenger, but because he felt entitled and liked control. What more control is there then to decide who lives and who dies? I do believe there are circumstances that may have been the perfect storm to bring Ted to his killing path and in this paper I will discuss how I feel Ted came to be what he was. Theodore Robert Crowell, also known as Ted Bundy, was born on November 24, 1946 in Burlington, Vermont. Eleanor Cowell, Ted's mother, was twenty–two years old and unmarried when she had him. Ted's father left Eleanor before Ted was born and there is no concrete proof on who Ted's father really was. Since Bundy, like the majority of serial murderers and other criminals, were introduced to some sort of violence at an impressionable age, many argued that this was the reason people came to be criminals. Across the nation, many began to express their opinions on violence being so out in the open for any young, impressionable child to see. If violence in a book could create somebody like Ted Bundy, who had over 30 victims, then what could television spread to children? Although some still argued that the violence Ted Bundy was exposed to was clearly not the reason he became a serial murderer, the majority of people needed something to blame for creating criminals. To most, the idea that a criminal is born and not created was hard to understand because in most situations, there is something or someone to put the blame on. Ted Bundy kidnapped and brutally murdered over 30 young women and he was blamed for their deaths, but what could be blamed for the reason he did it? Bundy's family seemed wholesome, extremely religious, and level–headed so they could not be blamed for Ted becoming who he was. • 48. Ted Bundy Vs Ted Bundy Serial killers are one of the biggest mysteries to the rest of humanity. The way they think and act is terrifying but also fascinating because other people don't think in the same way. So when we see someone so sadistic and emotionally detached we want to know more about them. We want to know what their childhood was like, if something happened in the early development of their lives or if they were just wired that way from birth. Two of the most popular serial killers are Ted Bundy and Jeffrey Dahmer. They both started killing people in their young adulthood, progressively becoming more and more addicted to the thrill it gave them leading up to their arrests later in life. However, they had very different home lives and experiences that lead to their fates. Childhood and adolescence tend to play a huge role in the way people turn out as adults, so it's one of the first things people look back at when someone turns out to be any kind of killer. Jeffrey Dahmer is said to have had a pretty normal childhood though, according to his father, he had an unusual interest in the bodies of dead animals and didn't show the same kinds of emotions as other children ("All About Jeffrey Dahmer", 2011).
