Drawing from the work of Candace Spigelman (textual ownership), Lawrence Lessig (copyright/remix), and Henry Jenkins (collaboration/convergence), I will highlight a divide between traditional writing assignments and modern writing situations that DH studies can bridge. I will show that the techniques familiar in DH can move writing courses into the 21st century by bringing digital technology into composition pedagogy.
