Hezekiah became king of Judah and removed idols and high places of worship, trusting only in God. He destroyed the bronze serpent from Moses' time because people had begun worshipping it. Hezekiah obeyed God's commandments and prospered in all he did. When Hezekiah became ill and was told he would die, he prayed earnestly to God. God heard his prayer, saw his tears, and healed him, adding 15 more years to his life and delivering the city from the king of Assyria.
