Target Audience Research
     For the band Fij
Survey
• I targeted my survey to young Adults being
  between the ages 16-24, since they would be
  the target audience for Fij music.
• 20 surveys were filled out

We can see that the most popular music genre
between the age group is Pop followed closely by
Indie which is Fij’s genre. This means our music video
will be relatable to our target audience.
                                                     Since this is a question where
                                                     more than one answer may be applicable
                                                     we received many varied responses.
How do you listen to music?

     Mp3 are seen the most common way for
     people to access their music with all 20
     people choosing it as one of their ways of
     listening to music. Fij being an unsigned
     band can’t sell their music making it
     unavailable to mp3 players so they will have
     to focus on promoting themselves through
     gigs and festivals.

This small percentage who prefer CD’s show us that downloads from the internet
Is the most common form of accessing music in this age group. Fij in order to reach
this market must promote themselves through the internet actively.

     This shows us that to our consumers
     the album cover is considered however
     would not affect the persons discoing on
     whether to buy the album or not.

Knowing that YouTube and ITunes is the most common
way for our target audience to access their music means
that Fij’s One More Year should be accessible through them.
Their song is on you tube but however being an unsigned band
is not on ITunes as of yet.

Fij should perform at as many gigs and festivals
as possible in order to promote themselves.

This shows us that the majority of
our consumers thinks that the music
video does or sometimes does effect
their opinion of a song. So in our music
video we must make it compliment
the lyrics and tone of the song.

Critics with Questionnaire
• We decided to emulate the accurateness of our
  questionnaire and draw attention to components of it
  we should have gone about differently. Firstly, haven
  given out the questionnaire in school this gave us a
  biased result with the majority of them being filled out
  by 17 year olds. This meant that the opinions of our full
  target audience of 16-24 wans’t as strongly presented
  as we had wished. We also have recognized that that
  the last question was not clear for all people answering
  the questionnaire since we did’t clarify that if “illegally
  downloading” music was a problem in compassion to
  just “downloading” music.
Conclusion
• Despite this critiques, the questionnaire was
  our way of carrying out target audience
  research and gave us a deeper understanding
  of Fij’s consumers which can help us when
  portraying the bands image through our music
  video.
