Dillan Patel and Neil Thekdi wrote about their goals for a summer internship focused on spreading kindness. Dillan aimed to help others using his strengths, perform daily random acts of kindness, share his smile with everyone, and spread and share kindness through a blog. Neil wanted to help people, learn about generosity, improve his filmmaking, and create inspirational documentaries. They described experiences like volunteering at a community kitchen and meeting inspirational people.
Dillan Open with the video that Neil and Dillan made at the end of the internship Neil will try to reduce the music volume and raise their volume if possible on the video
NEIL This is the kind of exposure that Neil had as a kid with kindness and generosity These are pictures taken at Neil’s 10 th birthday party which was a neighborhood car wash for free Check out the smile card in one of the customer’s hand (this was in 2006)
DILLAN Dillan got inspired to think about kindness whenNipun spoke at out temple and wanted to join in Dillan to talk about how/what inspired him from his exposure to Nipun
NEIL We approached Nipunbhai about a possible internship and got started in the April/May time frame We were first asked to think about what we wanted to get out of it – why an internship? Why now? Why CF?

NEIL Neil will talk about what we did during the summer – we used our blogs (video and written) to advertise and promote kindness Will include examples of events that we supported and were exposed to - like our experience with Wednesday meditations, Relay for Life, Karma Kitchen book, triathlons etc.
DILLAN Dillan will talk about the experience at KK – we volunteered at KK several times during the summer - we still can’t decide what was better – longboarding on the Berkeley streets during breaks or taking pictures at KK or being inspired by the stories we heard and experienced
DILLAN Dillan will talk about how post internship he continues to promote kindness around him – he won the Mr. Gratitude award at school a few weeks back
NEIL Neil will talk about how they are continuing the smile revolution beyond the internship with trackable smile cards. Will end with the trackable smile card video story (All it takes is Chalk) Will offer trackable and simple smile cards to the audience and open for questions.
