Here is the packet it is a CD, a Table of Contents and short document that lists several quick and easy events that you can do with the items on the CD.
The celebration in a box is actually a CD of materials. The first year the committee put together a lot of materials and so last year we decided it would be helpful to place them all on a CD and share it with bar leaders. So we organized the materials and placed them on a CD and a local Court Reporting Firm copies and labels the CDs for us. The CD has Several folders that provide instructions, forms, sample documents, handouts, and other materials to allow someone on the local level to host a pro bon week event. We have information on: Proclamations Civic Speeches Letters to the Editor Recruitment Activities CLE Materials Clinics Community Legal Education Programs
To let you get a look at a specific section the Proclamation Section has Instructions Sample Auto-forms for cities and Counties Sample emails to the Mayor/County Commission Sample letters to the mayor/county commission A couple sample press releases In our rural counties proclamations have been a great way to get some local press for the program and the local bar leader who proposes the proclamation. For that reason they don’t mind doing it. So the goal with each of the sections on the CD is to give someone everything they need to accomplish that event.
We ask that a member of the committee be placed on the agenda for a Board of bar Commissioners meeting. At the meeting they are given a Pro Bono Week Packet with the CD and the Committee members tells them what is in the packet and some of the quick and easy ways they can get involved. We also pass around a clip board and ask them to let us know if they are willing to speak to a local civic group. This year we gave them printed versions of the proclamation for their city and county. We will follow up with an email and then a phone call from one of the committee members Local bar presidents are sent the packet with a letter asking for their assistance. The committee follows up with the local bar presidents by phone and email All the materials are also placed on the Alabama State Bar Website In addition to the materials we have a calendar of events like the national site
